I tried searching, but none of the results suit my application... so here's the question:

I'm looking to buy some Black Racing wheels for my S14, and they have the following sizes:

Front: 17x8 with +20, +31, +38, or +45 offsetRear: 17x9 with +18, +30, +38, or +45 offset

I'm looking to get +31 for the front, and +38 for the rear with my STOCK SUSPENSION and STOCK BRAKES. Will these be flush with fenders, stick out a little, or stick in a little? I prefer it to stick in a little rather than out if the offsets aren't exactly optimal.

Also, I have plans for either the apex n1 pro or zeal b6 coilovers along with the z32 brake upgrades coming.. will they clear both of those?

Thanks!

ok:

step 1: go to http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html

step 2: type in current and desired wheels

step 3: go outside and measure what it says.

rule of thumb - it will always clear coilovers if you dont bring the wheel much closer to the strut. most 17's with appropraite offset (ex. strut clearance) will clear z32's.

hope this helped, sorry if i sound rash :)

Use 16x7 +40 as a basis for coilover clearance.

My suggestion would be a 17x8 +20 front and a 17x9 +30 rear

Im looking at purchasing the same sized wheels with +25 offset in front, +35 offset in rear for my girlfriends 98 240sx se.

What I want to know is, what size tire should I put on those?

Im thinking something like a 235-45-17 fpr the front with the 8" wide rim and all.

But I have no clue on what to slap on a 9" wide rim.

I have to buy soon because her se rims are bent and she is currently using 95 mustang gt wheels with 225-55-16 tires and a 30 offset. It looks a little funny.

Thanks for any advice you can give.

it is NOT the size of the rim or offset...it is in the design of the rim if they will clear Z32 brakes or bigger.

Both offset and the size of the rim play a role. It determines the geometry of the inner portion of the wheel.

8" = 235 9" = 255

Yes,

R33 GTR wheels w/ a 10mm spacer fit 17x9 +30

I believe that depends on the tire choice. I know of two people running R33 rims on S14's with no spacers. They run 245 wide tires. I can't remember what aspect ratio. And it was a tire that had little or no rim protector deading and a relatively flat sidewall design. Unless you are talking about running it with a coilover...

Just to clerify...I am assuming that the R33 GTR wheels are +30 and the resulting offset is +20 (after the spacer). I have no plans for coilovers, just koni inserts, so that's not an issue, but what I want to do is run 17 x 9s with +25 offset at all 4 corners with 245/40/17s. Thats 5 millimeters closer to the strut than R33 rims with 10 mil spacer.

Anyone know if these will fit, before I make a $1000 mistake?

TIA,

Shea

I guess very negative camber would make it harder to clear them too. But, Are you sure they didn't need any spacers on the front wheels. I just wanted to make sure that we were both talking about the front wheels, because if we are, then I think that 17 x 9s with +25 offset should be perfect with 245/40/17s. I think I'm gonna do it! just as soon as I sell my honda, don't worry it was just an investment (had popped t belt).

...I bought the rims (4 17 x 9s with +25 offset) now the question is can I stuff 255/40/17s under all 4 corners with out spacers?

TIA'

S14s could house rims with low offsets. I'm running 17x8 +14 215/45/17 (fenders aren't rolled and camber is at about negative 1 degree) in front and 17x9 +14 225/40/17 (fenders are rolled) in the rear.

225 is awful skinny on a 17x9"er
