A friend of mine is looking into getting a set of 17x8" wheels all the way around with a +35 mm offset for his S13. He is also planning on running a 225/40/17 tire.

His question to me was will it fit with his coil-overs and I said yes. However I am second guessing myself and wanted to get your thoughts in regards to the front?

One of our wheel gurus posted a few of his wheels/tires setups. He ran 17x8 +35 all around with a 215/45 tire. I'm not sure if the wider tire will fit.

the 225/40 isnt tall enough, and it wont fit with a 225 anyway

tell him to get 215/45 tires, then it will work

If you look at my thread you'll see I'm either going with FN's (17x8 +35) or DT's in 16x7.5F and 17x8.5R. If I get the FN's I'll be getting a 225/45 tire. But I might have get a 10mm spacer and maybe 50mm studs. But I'm going to try to make it work. And if I have room after that I'm going to try 235/45 all around. The spacer will also help make it more flush.

Yeah use a spacer. 225 on an 8" +35 wont clear coilovers.

Thats right.

I'm going to play around with them when I get them. See what size of spacer I'll need to make it flusher but still streetable if you know what I mean.

i have 17x8 +35 all the way around with 215/45.

i dont have coils, but the tire is probably about one cm away from the shock perch.

so im guessing that 225s will not fit.

I would like to see the strech on a 17x8 with 215/45. Like what it looks like on the wheels up close. Anyone have a pic?

Sorry for high jackin the thread.

That's why I was second guessing myself, I know that an 8" wide wheel with a 35 offset was close, but then he wants a 225 tire, that's when I said it would be too close for comfort.

Thanks for all your help!!!

As for looks it would be much nicer and flusher if you had a 225/45 and a 10mm spacer. Otherwise it will be sunken. Thats the idea behind a 225/45.

17x8 +35 isnt great, but its not too bad either. I'd rather be semi sunken then use a spacer, but thats just me.

Thank you smithly, I was trying to find that pic the other day but I couldn't find it. So not much wheel sticks out part the tire by the looks of it.

That pic scares the hell out of me. I was considering going 215 all around on my 16's but the rears are 8" wide. I'd want some sidewall insurance with the poopy roads around here...

How can you sleep at night?

Sold 'em to Repo Man so no worries. Smitty doesn't sleep; he waits.

Thats 17x8 +35. Now on repoman's car.

It doesn't look like the DT-05R thing is working out (guy wont reply now) so it looks like I'll be getting the 17x8 +35. Tire size will be 235/45 or 40 (not sure which I should run, help on this). Then a 10mm spacer in front and 15mm spacer in the rear with the rear fenders roller. This will make it super flush, have a really nice tire on it and still street able. -2 camber front and -1 rear.

http://www.zilvia.net/f/showpo...t=875 It will look just like that, same color of wheel and car with the same specs. Only with KTS not Megan coil-overs. Also I will be needing longer wheel studs, I'm not sure what size I'm getting yet but I know I want closed end lugs. Its going to look really nice I think.

Huh?

If you can't sleep at night you better have 215/40/18s on an 11J with 7 degrees of camber. Your crap isn't hardcore untill you know how to reseat the bead on your tires in your work parking lot and burn through Hankooks in 7000 miles due to a 2in worn band down to the cords with the rest of the tire fresh.

Ok cool Smitty is the man!

*Edit* What wheel studs should I use to use closed end lugs? 50mm or 60mm?

Ive heard horror stories about the 60mm studs. I'd only mess with the 50mm.

Not sure about the closed ended lugs, though. IIRC, stock studs are 42mm, so maybe you can calculate it from there.
