17x7.5(ET13) 17x8.5 (ET30) They would also need adapters.Probably 20mm at least. How close are these to fitting stock body? Poke any?

17x7.5? That's pathetic. It's no Civic.

Go for at least 17x9's for the front.

Was just wondering, they are the stock rims off my mercedes I was debating on putting them back on and selling the 18's I bought for it or seeing if they might fit the coupe if I bought adaptors...

No need for a 9 up-front, a 8 inch wheel with a nice tire is fine all day long.

But those will fit, no issue , but the Mercedes bolt and center bore is dirrenet I think.

Is there a reason why you would not advocate a wider wheel with wider rubber up front? Like a 9.5 with 245 rubber...

Because a 9.5 should have a 305 on it well maybe a 285. But too much tire in the front makes it harder to steer, more tire drag, more friction. Going from a 195 to a 225/245 is fine, but if your putting a 9.5 inch wheel, put a real tire that fits on it.

Oh. So this is a personal preferance kind of thing. Gotcha. I would not like, at all, how a 305 sits on a 9.5 wheel. 245-275 on a 9.5 is a mild stretch to just over-square. 305 on a 9.5 is gonna be Stay-Puft Marshmellow Man status...

Depends whether he wants to stretch.

I'm 7.5 width with 215, it looks normal

255 is barely square on a 9"

Really? The early C6 had the 9.5s outback, and most guys run a 305 on them...... no over-bulge. The mentality of a meaty tire has become misconstrewed into its going to be way over bulged and wont fit right, when in fact a large wheelz for a large tire fits nice. Hey if you like driving on rubber bands, by all means do it. But there is no state puff marshmallow man when it comes to meaty fitment. Unless your putting a 305 on a 8jj

Maybe he means on an s-cahssis.

I agree with you that 305 on a 9.5 looks decent on a vett.... but a 240? ehhCorvettes are pretty big cars, and maybe Simmode is trying to say that 305 is a lot of tire that 240s can rarely pull-off.

...Horrible grammar

WTF is this sheep B.S.? I love a meaty tire, but 305 rubber on a 9.5 is crazy. Are you absolutely certian that Corvette wheel you posted is an OEM 9.5 wheel?

Because I have plenty of pics showing 245's square on a 9 - 9.5 wheel.17x9.5+17 245/45/17 all around.

Now peep this one: 17x9+25 with 245/40/17 up front & 17x9.5+30 with 275/40/17 out back. Fronts are nice and square while the rears are just a tad bit over-square, IMO.

Stay tuned for pics of S-Chassis on 305's with correct wheel sizes...

Here we go...

S14 on 18x11+18 with 315's. A 305 wouldn't be much less square.

Meh... hunting down all the 240's with 300+ series tires square on their wheels is tedious. But they are all over Zilvia's "Maximun Wheel & Rubber" thread. And they all mostly run 11 inch wide wheels to fit those tires square. Go have a look because I have a feeling that anyone trying to fit an S-chassis with 9.5 wheel and 305 rubber is gonna end up with something gross on his hands.

Screw you and people that are scared to have something fit decent on their car. Stretch some tire people. it's not hard. 9.5's can have 215's on them all day long.

You guys need some poke in your life.

Ehh... that's a little strong there, homie. OutToWinPAHC is a cool, upstanding member of the community. It's fine to disagree, but we don't have to take it down into the gutter...

You have to be an idiot to put 305's on a 9.5.

GM putting them stock on Corvettes is a perfect example.
