Im have a 05 Maxima SE with 18" wheels on it now. Im going to be needing new tires within the next few months and almost fell over when I saw proce of 18" tires

Is there anything with the Maxima that would prohibit me from dropping down to 17" wheels & tires ? It seems like the original $$ it would take to buy wheels and tires for 17" would be less then buying just set of 18"

I have a SE and dont know if it would screw anything up by going down 1 size ?

There are more tire options available for 18" than 17" rims. I would stay with 18" and ask around for some good lower-cost tires. Personally I have had no issues with the Kumho ASX that I'm running.

I have seen Maxima's with 17's though

I noticed When it snows there isnt a lot of space between the 18's and the snow caked up in wheel wells

Why do you say to say with 18's ? what is the differances ?

Go to a Town Faire Tire. there should be one near by in mass. It'll throw off your speedometer if you go down a tire size (unless you make up the difference with more rubber but then you're in the same boat you're in now). I've got 16" rims on my car but mine's only a 2k. Town Fair should be able to get you decent tires and they stand behind them pretty well. Also check tirerack.com

How muc will it change the speedometer ? I have seen Maxima's on Nissan's lots with 17"s

I was actually at Town Fair yesterday & they gave me the idea of the 17's....the difference between 17 & 18's all season is like night and day
