I don't think you answered his question Nismo, he was asking about stock suspension.

They should clear the stock suspension, in the rear for sure.In the front i think as long as you don't go wider than a 235 they should be ok.

I specified coilovers... not OEM suspension, as in he might regret that decision to get the wheels later if he went to coilovers.

is the offset the reason they won't clear? what offset would you need to clear coilovers and/or z32 brakes?

The offset and width is the reason they won't clear coilovers. IIRC, if you want to clear coilovers, don't go any closer than +40 with a 7" wheel. Use the wheel offset calculator to test various wheels against this base case.

Clearing z-brakes is a lot trickier. Basically, you want a thin spoke design that curves inward before it attaches to the rim. You also want a low offset, wide wheel, with little lip. With a wide wheel and small lip, you can have a higher offset to clear the brakes compared to a thin wheel with small lip.(you'd need a low offset)

This is why those old-school mesh drifting rims don't clear the brakes. They're usually a thin wheel, with a low offset, but has a retardedly big lip. This big lip is what is creating the low offset, not the hub-mounting point of the wheel.
