17 rims on 07 sport model

I'm a new g35 owner and was installing 17 inch rimes with snow tires today when the garage pulled me in and said that the rims were to close to the brakes and would heat up and ruin my rotors. Then after looking for new 18 snow tires to fit my existing rims they called and said that they were wrong and I would be fine as long as they weren't making any contact with the brake. Needless to say I feel less than confident in the 17 rim. Anyone have any experience putting 17 rims an the sport model?

All the 07 G35's come with 17" wheels but the S. I can't find brake rotor size info on line.

If I were you I'd call a dealership and ask for parts. Have them check brake rotors for a S and for a J. If the part numbers are the same 17" wheels are fine.
