the thought of a DIY mani from jgs and a cheap 16g off an evo($150 tops) makes this seem like a cheap ka-t setup. not as cheap as a t25 setup but makes more power of course. input is appreciated

Can you weld the specific flanges for that turbo?

I believe its the same as the 14b flange, and it's pretty easy to come by

Lots of flanges and gaskets. The idea sounds decent to me, I'm not familiar with the trim of the turbo, but it will work.

thanks! to put things into perspective, the turbo is efficient on pump gas until about 23psi. normally that it makes around 330whp but thats on a 2.0L. i don't know how much a 2.4L would affect that

It is a little small, and we do not know that it is smaller in capability than the T25, since a map was never released. Basically, I don't think you hit those power levels until almost 20, right? Can you use that? The T3 is tried and true, and with a .48, will work famously for fast spool. Also, the TD06-20g is the best bet for our motors (Came on the Typhoon/Syclone and is in the Greedy kit). Then again, I am running the T04b, and so I am one of those ***holes who doesn't listen. So if you are stuck on the 16g, and can make it happen, then good luck.

Its not so much that I'm stuck with it, but seeing as how cheap these turbos can be had(under 150 in good shape), coupled with a diy mani, it seems like a very cost efficient setup that is reliable. I would rather go with a GT32 or 50trim, but the cost is almost double for a good setup. From the looks of it though, I cannot find a twin scroll 16g flange...I'm pretty positive it flows alot better than a t25, on evo's its a great stock turbo that puts them around 330whp with just bolton's.

Thanks for the input, keep it comin'

It maps out to 18 psi to hit 330hp, and it's efficiency is only at 60% at this point. A Super 60 would probably be at about 65% at this same boost level and output. So yeah not a huge diff. If you can make it work, then more power to you.

if you go with a 16G go with a EvoIII big16G they are compareable to a gt28rs with i felt quicker spool up and more left on the top end. i ran one on my ca18det for a season, i never upgraded my fuel setup or tuned it so i was maxed out at 260-275whp. with some bigger injectors and tuning it could have made 350-380 hp. you can put togther a cheap log manifold ,they are internally gated so you can put that money towards a custom down pipe. if you need more power later you can always go for what a 20G.
