I've never actually seen a cam on bucket setup go bad. The springs may get tired though. What model are we talking about?

I'd say if your not going to increase your rpm range much, you should be fine with a good cleaning. If you want more revs you might consider the valve train upgrade.

It depends on the stiffness of the ARP springs really. The springs just need to keep the valves from floating at high speed. If your valvetrain is atleast up to factory specs, the springs should be the only thing needing a swap. You guys also need to make sure your bottom end is balanced and lightened if your gonna go over 7500. Not to mention a cam...

good upgrade would be solid lifter conversion, stiffer rate springs, good valve grind, and a cam to suit your needs

Ok yeah my crank is lightened and knife edged, and thewhole thing will be weight matched and balanced (pauter rods, ross pistons) whats the sensible thing to do? isnt the solid upgrade alot of work is there any aftermarket suff for SOHC and what do you think about the third step PDM cam or should i just stick with some NISMO stuff, I do want to rev higher than stock? thanx in advance !

You will not want to use the stage 3 sohc pdm cam for turbo, way to much duration. Try the c404.h, it is an excellent all around cam and can flow at decently high rpm. Solid lifter conversion, and stiffer valve springs you will want if your going to push the rpms. Solid conversions run about $200 and valvespring price depends on how far you want to upgrade.

all of these and similar parts will be up on my site, soon!!

you can get solid lifter converions from realnissan.com, tulsaturbo.com, and from me. Mine are lower profile, i use higher quality hardened parts, and they are lighter as well compared to the others (mine do not require valve cover modification btw..). You can get custom titanium retainers made up, but unless you plan on spinning 8500+rpm you will not benefit much. Springs for the sohc can be had in many combinations, some opt only to upgrade the exhaust springs (as valvespring rate/actual valve weight ratio is not as good as the intakes). This can be done very cheaply. Full custom springs i can have made for sohc, this gets a tad expensive, but you have more spring rate options

How much for your solid conversion ? and If i upgrade my exhaust springs should i at least buy fresh stock intake springs ? I dont know about 8500 but im going for like 550RWHP. T67 & whatnot.

my lifter conversion is $200 with core exchange. If you do not plan on spinning that high of rpm, and with just a mild cam, stock springs/retainers should suit fine.

btw. i will also have sohc cam grinds for various setups, in due time
