$1600 in damage in the first 10 min.....

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi Everyone, Noobie here...Although I have been a loyal Infiniti owner. Had a 2003 G35 Coupe and a 2005 FX 35... On Tuesday night I bought my wife a 2008 EX White-Wheat w/ Wood trim, Premium, Luxe packages. After getting all the paperwork done we left the dealership. My wife wanted to drive it home after all it's going to be her car. She was nervous and cautious. Got on the freeway headed home. Not 10 min into the ride a car in front of us threw up a huge piece of semi tire tread. No place to go or swerve...smashed into the lower valance. Immediately got off the freeway to inspect the damage. Lower valance, lower grilles and under carriage engine cover destroyed.. Needless to say I flipped out. My wife was crying and really shook. We weren't hurt but our brand new EX was no longer new !She called the dealership and explained what happened. They told her to bring in on Weds morning for inspection. When she arrived the Salesman, Finance guy and GM were waiting for her. They took it back for inspection.Bottom line...new bumper, grilles and under engine cover....$1600.00They are going to cover half and provide a loaner while it's repaired. That's what I call great customer service...... They were able to get the engine cover bolted back up, Grilles are re-connected to the valance and the valance pushed back out. It will take a few days to get the parts and about 7 to 10 days to repair. But the joy and magic of getting a new EX has been greatly diminshed.Just thought I'd share my grief and vent a little...life goes on !

I am not the moderator for the EX35, but I still would love to welcome you to NICOclub!

Sorry about your EX35, I feel for both you and your wife, that totally sucks! What a bummer! Damn Semi trucks!!!! I always stay away from them and dump trucks, especially ones with gravel in them. Good luck, that is awesome that the dealership is being so helpful. ENJOY THE NEW EX35!

Wow, I can only imagine. Your EX is almost identical to ours. My wife was so distracted with all the gadgets that she missed her exit when she drove it home from the dealer.

Sounds like the dealership is taking care of you. Hope you get it back soon.

I have driven around, over and into separating re-treads at a much higher frequency this summer than I can ever recall. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that times are hard and truckers are running re-treads longer than they should.

Just another reason to avoid following trucks or following so close to the traffic in front of you that you lessen your time to react and avoid this stuff. your wife was a sitting duck.

A dispiriting moment, for sure, but glad you and your wife are okay.

Welcome aboard man...sorry your first thread involved an accident. I'm glad there were no injuries involved. The dealership seems to be taking good care of you, something seldom seen these days.

Again, welcome to Nico

To the Original Poster... do you still have this Car and were the repairs satisfactory?

I couldn't imagine the horror of having a Car wrecked minutes after you drive it off the Lot.

Must be boring up there in Alberta if you have to dredge up 2-year old posts. :chuckle:

Well $1600 isn't too bad and the dealer is covering half. Glad to hear no personal damages and actually those are only cosmetic not structural repairs, so it could be worse. But yeah, on the first trip, Ouch.

I was surprised the dealer offered that but a coworker said, supposedly, there's a grace period when a new car is covered by the dealers insurance - 3 day or so. So should't the dealer cover it all???
