I was bored and looking around on ebay and found a set of 225/50/16 RE-050s with a buy it now price of $235 . I have no money, but I just wanted to let you guys know if you are in the market for some tires. I looked on tire rack and they are $206 a piece! It seems like a good deal.

That's an incredible price!BUT, some things just cannot be trusted to be in excellent condition, like tires.Too much risk considering the price point is so low for such a high dollar tire.Things to look for that photos can hide:

Any repair, patch, plug, damage to beaddamage to any hidden part of tread (flat spots for example)damage to sidewall

all can be hidden by photographer and what a pain / hassle to have to send them back to a seller, after negotiating their return, if indeed they are in poor condition.

Tires are too important!

That being said, the price is definitely right and it looks like a bargain!

how does the weight of a runflat compare to a normal tire? Wouldnt they be far heavier and increase rotating mass, slowing your car down alot?

Just did some really cool Kumho Ecsta runflats on a C5 vette.. light weight, nothing to be overwhelmed by or worry about, IMO.

They are very stiff sidewalls and have hefty beads. Overall, no obvious weight difference from non-runflat. This is probably an issue that differs by model/brand.

how can they accomplish a stiff enough sidewall to support a car, without adding additional materials(weight), over a non runflat?

It may be heavier. Hard to say without measuring.A tire is made up of several materials. Generally speaking, a radial tire uses steel belts and at least on type of fabric for body plies. Maximizing stiffness (all steel construction for ex.) and super thick bead wraps add strength...usually weight, but to know exactly would require instrumented weigh-in.

need240sx I would go every once and a while to the Saturday meets at Vans. I drive a maroon zenki s14. I never popped my hood or boasted about my car so maybe I wasn't as noticed as some people's cars. I agree with you SR_Smith tires are too important. It's hard to see defects like flat spots buy visual inspecting a tire in person with out touching it and seeing how they role on a balancer. With a picture a tire could look alot better than it really is.

I am nerd about tires so when I saw the brigdstones I was like COOL!. I am a tire tech at a discount tire and when some one comes in getting cool tires like Falken rt-215s or something I like installing myself so I can touch the tires and drool over them. They probably think I am a weirdo.
