Hey i was wondering if anyone had any ideas im looking to buy a turbo kit to get somewhere close if not over 300 hp... Ive looked at greddy ive looked at turbonetics... Also was wondering what internally in my 95 ka i would have to reinforce to run around 15 psi... the turbo kit will be put on a freshly rebuilt ka just trying to decide if i should upgrade pistons and what not... Any input is appreciated

My KA-T Project will be starting next spring and I have done as much research as humanly possible on this subject with my goal being similar to yours at up and around 300whp.

If you are keeping your goal of 300hp then you will most def be in the market for new Pistons with a +0.20 bore. CP pistons I have found to be the most relied on when building up the KA. When dealing with that much of a power upgrade don't over look new Springs and Retainers. You MIGHT (and I use that word lightly) be able to get away with not replacing your Cams but if your dedicated to the project you should swap them out for a pair that can handle the abuse now then have the headache of dissasembling after you've built it up. Its only going to improve the situation. Brian Crower offersr package deals (FRSPORTS.com)

Make sure as well that you have a Clutch that is up for the job. Again cutting corners early on will only lead to more of a bill down the road when factory/subpar performance parts fail on you.

Just for 300whp you don't need to upgrade, but for 15psi I would recommend it, especially since you already are building the engine.

Oh and we have a KA-t section that could help.

I was guessing i would need around 15psi to get over 300 hp... Have yall heard anything about the ebay engine rebuild kit... was looking at it and saw where i could get the .20 bore pistons... a brand called npr?

For the most part, I wouldn't trust an ebay 'brand' for rebuild. Stock block, decent turbo, injectors, MAF, and Good Tune should get you 300whp around 11psi. 15psi most people would see around 350whp.

for 300 your fine for 350 you might be able to get away with a good tune
i have similar goals as your but a sohc
running a stock rebuilt and a cx racing turbo kit that i replace every piece from so you'll have better luck pieceing togather a kit instead of buying a full kit
greddy kit is good but you could do cheaper with a piece togather kit and work still as good

Truth^

And you might not need to run 15 pounds to get to 300. just make sure you get a well matched turbo for the type of setup you run.

A good tune makes the difference.

I dont think you would need new pistons unless your racing. I also agree that 15 psi will give you more than 300 again, with a decent tune. Dont forget about how the details matter including a head gasket thickness, compression ratio, timing, boost needed. Talk to someone that knows what theyre talking about.

Do NOT buy from Ebay..

just buy an a set of OE rings and OE ACL bearings, grab the neccessary gaskets required, a good cometic head gasket (stock bore) and a set of ARP head studs. The stock lower deck is good to an easy 300whp untouched. some people have made 450whp or around that on stock internals (i think) but dont even try it. Thats prob a time bomb. As for additionals, add a set of deatschwerks or rc 550's, an n62 maf and maybe something along the line of a 60-1 with a good Jim Wolf or Enthalpy rom tune. youll make your 300 around 12psi-ish.
