Recently a thread was posted regarding the pricing on the 15000 mile service on a G35.

Since I am getting close to this on the odometer, I figured I would ask.

Here in NJ I got 2 different price quotes from two different dealers. Since I am relatively new to service at Infiniti dealers around me, I figured I would ask to see if anyone was familiar with the quality of service they received from the dealers here, whether they have had good or bad experiences in either dealer.

The first was Ray Catena in Edison, NJ. (this is where I bought the car and have had service there before- nothing good or bad to report, about average.) They wanted about $375 with tax for it. They are practically around the corner from where I work.

The second is Flemington Infiniti. They wanted $280 with tax for it. Although they are a bit of a hike for me to get to, it's not too bad to get to.

I figure 100 bucks is 100 bucks in my pocket. I still think that they are both a bit on the high side for what they are doing.

I don't know if anyone has had any other experiences with any other dealers besides these two in NJ.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks again!!

Paul

Both of those prices sound a bit high to me. I know here in Indy they are charging $50-$60 for an oil change and at the 15k service mark there isn't much more that needs done. Mostly just checking fluids and what not. I can't remember right off the top of my head what I paid for the 15k service, but I think it was somewhere in the $175 range. I'll check my records and get the exact particulars on what was done and the cost and post here.

I just checked my records and my 15k service cost $184 including taxes. They did an oil change and replaced the in cabin microfilter as weill as checked hoses, lines and fluids.

A regular oil change costs $53 including taxes. However, when I bought the car I was able to get 10 free oil changes which was really nice.

It sounds to me like both dealers you have looked at are very high priced. Makes me feel better about the pricing at D&R, which I always thought was very high.

Good luck.

Ryan,

Thanks for the input. I may look around at other places to have it done.

When I had my Nissan, I worked with a Nissan dealer just around the corner from where I live. They were really good in their service department. I don't know if there are any warranty issues if I brought it to them instead of an infiniti dealer... I would think that the parts used are interchangeable.

Anyway, some more research is in order on my part.

Thanks

Paul

I just did a bit a research with this.Flemington Infiniti wants $260 for the service. Included with it is tire rotation and balance, along with the oil filter and oil change, cabin air filter replacement, air filter replacement, inspection of brakes, and a few other minor things. Doulglas Infiniti wants 230 for the same service, but they are a bit more difficult to get to for me.Ray Catena wants 325 for the service but does not include tire balancing.

At this point, I'm inclined to go with Flemington Infiniti. A friend of mine also recommended their service department and said that he has been satisfied with them.

I think that is about the going rate arond me. I will post if I see any other differences in price.

just an update. I called one other dealer in my area and they also wanted about $260 plus tax for the 15000 mile service. But, they did not include tire balancing...Anyway, I decided to go with Flemington Infiniti to do the service. I will post once I have it done to give any feedback.

Maybe there could be a separate category on this forum for people's experiences with dealers, whether good or bad. This could give kind of a "rating" for the dealer. Maybe even break it up between people's experiences with buying and experiences with service. I dunno, just a thought.

Hi Fred!

I Live in Central NJ near the Trenton area (exit 8 off the turnpike )I'm about 45mins from Philly and about 90 mins from the Delaware Memorial Bridge. The meets sound like a great idea!! Getting to meets may be a bit challenging for me, especially with the kids during the weekend (my wife works on Saturdays and I play with the kids. Maybe I will bring them along... I can show-off my only mod so far to the car...the car seat for my 7 year old ) But I will post my info on the thread so I can get info about anything you may be planning in the future.

Thank you for the info!!Paul

Paul, I'll sticky a thread about dealer experiences when I get back to Indy.

About the tire rotation though. The front tires on my coupe are slightly smaller than the rear tires. So, all they can really do is switch left to right on the rotation. I have the 17's, and I am not sure if this is the same if you have the 18's.

Hi Ryan!

Actually I have the sedan with 17's on all (OEM's). The sizes are the same front and rear. So, tire rotation from front to rear should not be a problem. I had it done at 7000 miles already.

Anyway thanks for the info.

Some of the G35 models (may be the Coupe, though) have different rim offsets front and rear, and they are available in 17" too. Those should never be rotated - for obvious reasons.

Check the offset mark inside the rim to be sure of this.

Okay, I figured I would do a followup on my 15000 mile interval service to go along with this thread.

I had it done at Flemington Infiniti. At this point my G35X has 15600 miles on it. When they inspected the front brakes, they said that the rotors and brake pads needed replacement (under warranty). They said that the rear brakes will need replacement by next 3000 mile interval. I had the regular service done and the brakes in a little over 2 hours. In this, they also balanced and rotated the tires (offset is same from front to rear on a sedan, but not the same on a coupe). The only thing that I did not have them do is wash the car (they use hand brushes to wash- didn't want any swirl marks on it )

Anyway, my bill was just over 300 with tax. (I also added windshield wiper blades in on it too which needed replacement) This was about what they quoted me.

Overall, I would say that I would give them 4 out of 5 stars for the service. The reason for this is because I still feel that the price is still a bit steep. Ray Catena would have been about $375 for the same service, but they do not balance the tires (add about $40 I figure).

I also bought my G35 at DR in Indy and they quoted me $375 for the 15k service just a few weeks ago. Do you go to the one in Greenwood or up by Carmel on 96th street?

I ended up just getting an oil change and tire rotation. They gave me an FX 35 loaner.

I go to the Greenwood location. Let me double check the cost on my reciept for the 15k service and I will post up a photocopy of it for you to see.

The service manager was gonna do all that stuff in the maintenance log suggested for 15k miles. I figured most of that crap was still in perfect working order and a lot of the steps were just checking stuff rather than actually doing anything. It seemed more money than what it was worth. Just the oil change and tire rotation was around $90.

I have looked for my 15k service reciept and have not found it yet. I usually keep them all together. I will keep searching.
