when a car starts to get old, u can start to expect electrical problems. below is a list of electrical problems i am experienceing and if i have found an answere to what the problem is.

1. Dash Lights - all dash lights work except for the lights behind the heater controls. when i got the car this light never worked and i assumed there was no light to illuminate the heater controls at night... however once or twice since ive owned the car the light has flickered on for a couple seconds only to disapear and not be seen again for months. Cause - unknown

2. Cruise control - accoding to the dash indicator, cruise control works. i press cruise on, then press set cruise and the green light comes on, however the car does not maintain speed. some have suggested its the clutch pedel, but this is not the case. Cause - unknown

3. Rear defrost - Rear defrost is not functioning. Cause - previous owner replaced rusted spoiler hatch with non spoiler hatch. Anybody know where i should even start to fix this or how hard it would be to rig my own wireing and/or switch if necessary?

4. windshield washer pump - front windshield washer fluid pump does not work. Cause - Im assuming bad pump, i have a replacement pump sitting here waiting to go in, but i just switched the tubes for the front and back fluid for now (so i have to press the dash button to get front washer fluid, while at the same time manually start blades.)

5. windshield washer delay - Out of no where one day the washer delay stopped working. when u turn the settings u have an adjustable delay setting, slow setting, fast setting. It used to work, but now when u turn it one click to the delay setting the blades dont move AT ALL. Cause - unknown.

IF anybody has some insight on to what might be going on with my car, let me know.

[QUOTE=glitched]when a car starts to get old, u can start to expect electrical problems. below is a list of electrical problems i am experienceing and if i have found an answere to what the problem is.

Possible fixes:

1. Dash Lights - Check behind radio for loose/stripped wires from prior installation. If there is a short, it might it burn the little white box behind left drivers panel. Take little box out, open and inspect for burned solder tracks. Try to resolder or replaced. If you find a wiring problem behind radio, try to redo and tape/heat shrink any exposed wires. There is a wire in the harness (continuity light) that deals with the panel and gauges all together.2. Cruise control - Is your car manual??? from factory?? If is a conversion from auto to manual the cruise will not work.....

3. Rear defrost - Rear defrost is not functioning. A good chance there is an open wire on either side, you gonna have to pull the multimeter and check continuity on both sides. From the heating element in the hatch to the glass. Is tricky the side wires are routed thru the sides of the hatch and thats were the break might be. 4. windshield washer pump - Make sure to check that you are getting power to the pump before replacing....5. windshield washer delay - ???

But before you do any of these, CHECK ALL your fuses.....just in case

#2 - check your CC throttle cable.on my last car, the CC throttle cable wasnt hooked up on the TB, thus it didnt maintain speed (didnt keep the TB open.)

just for arguements sake, check your alternator fuse under the hood in the fuse box located next to your battery area. My 240 had some major electrical problems like the guages not workin right till i gave the engine a little rev, and sometimes the car stalling out, couldnt take it outa gear, and a bunch of other crap like the wipers and dome light malfunctioning. For me it was the alternator fuse. easy fix, but dealership is the only place i could find it and it was 12 bucks for a damn fuse lol. good luck on gettin it fixed, electrical problems always suck cause its so hard to pinpoint it with all the mess of wires and sensors in a car.
