Hello,I need to get new tires for my Q45 (1994 - Active, stock wheels). I have read several posts that highlight how important it is to have the right tire (weight & size) for the Active suspension to continue to operate correctly. I am considering these two Michelin Pilot Exalto:- 215/65R15 96H- 225/60R15 96VBoth have the same warranty, treadwear, and approx. the same number of revolutions per mile (only 6 miles more for the 225/60 compared to the 215/65).Will the second option provide better handling (if I understand the specs correctly, it is slightly wider and has a smaller sidewall - "less tall")?Any recommendations? Any negative effect on the suspension's performance? Tks.

you've done your homework!225/60. full stop.i sooooo wish i had that instead of 8 practically new 215/65s. plus the V vs. H rating is better as you know.

let us know your impressions when done!

225/60R15 is better but speedometer will read a little fast.

235/60R15 is perfect but that size is hard to find these days.

Tks for the feedback. I assume this means no issues with the Active suspension?

Not with those small incremental differences. As long as the tire/wheel combo is close to 26" and the sidewall is close to OEM, you won't have any problem with the ACTSUS.

Lowering the car with aftermarket springs will confuse the ACTSUS to a certain degree. The added weight of 17" wheels might also cause some irregularities.

Many of us prefer the Michelin Exaltos in the 15" size. I'm running 225/60Vx15s.

Remember a 26" tire unloaded is actually compressed 3/4" [0.8" front/0.6" rear] at bottom with weight on it assuming tire stiffness is 1500 pounds per inch.

All that counts is the loaded radius at the bottom and how that translates to a loaded circumference.

Has anyone tried the Michelin Primacy MXV4? 96H Rating, with 60k miles warrantyIn some applications people rate them higher than the Exaltos...

The oem tires on the early Q were 170 treadwear rated and at best lasted 17,000 miles with careful behavior.

To duplicate early Q performance the softer faster wearing the better.

Even 400 treadwear will remove 10% of the performance 600 might be 20% below standard.

Fortunately modern Michelin 400 are pretty decent in wet braking so not as much is lot in that area.

Depends on how much braking distances you wish to throw away.

Tks for the feedback. I am going with the MIchellin Exalto (225/60R15) - with a treadwear of 400 but supposedly not too hard. Ordered them from Costco - $530 total, mounted and with lifetime rotations and balancing - key to make them last....; should have them in about a week.
