Started at 10 this morning and finished at 1AM!

I'm getting the car ready for the stereo install this weekend. I went with edead V1 and V3. I applied the V3 first, did two thick layers on the doors and trunk, and one layer in the car. I should have done more layers, but only had a gallon of the stuff and ran out. After everyting dried, I put on the V1 mat. This took forever with having to cut and cover everything.

Thought about using dynamat, but the stuff is just way too expensive.

I bought a 60ft^2 roll of their v1.

First thing I noticed is that this stuff is about half as light as dynamat extreme.

This is NOT a good thing.

I did one door in dynamat. It only took one layer on the inside and one on the inside.

The other door was the v1. It took a total of four layers. two insides and two outside.

You can buy dynamat extreme in the bulk pack for ~$120 shipped online. This is 36ft^2.

If I every do this again I'll try a different brand. The ED product just isn't thick/heavy enough.

Also, I tested the adhesion of the v1 by applying it to a piece of acrylic.

Just so you know this stuff does NOT bond completely. There were hundreds of small folds over a ~2.5ft^2 space. Each fold is a place where the mat doesn't bond properly to the material. this lowers the effectiveness of the product.

Here's my recommendation: Use the V1 in four layers on the rear doors and the floor/trunk.

Then use dynamat extreme in two layers on the front doors and the firewall.

Maybe a layer or two of v1 on the hood.

You are right...I used about 4 rolls of Dynamat Extreme in my old Civic back in the days. That stuff cost me over $200 bucks, but it works!! Are you competing in some kind of audio competition or sumthing? j/w

I thought about the dynamat, but it was so expensive for 36 sq ft. The cheapest I found was $150. The local audio store had it for $269 with a free roller...

So I decided to go with edead after doing a little research. It's not the best stuff, but it works for now. I did the combination of paint on and mat. The paint on was to get all the hard places mat can't be placed. After it dried, I just put the mat right over it where I could. I won't really know how good a job it all did until after I put the car back together. If I need to do more, I will probably go with dynamat to hit the common areas like trunk and floor board.

I've got a few other projects going on, so I had to spread the funds across them.

Here's what's up...- Wilwood big brake kit. Dry fitted today, will complete install tomorrow.- Stereo install. Two 10in subs are on the way....need to fab sub enclosure in the trunk.- Porche Big Brake kit for the wife's Audi. Install completed today.- Engine work and tuning...won't know until I take it to the shop to determine what's needed.

Wilwood brake kit and you're using the original rubber lines? Spend just a little more and get braided!

I have the SS lines. This was just a dry fit, so I didn't install the lines yet. Gotta get some locktite for the caliper bolts and then a buddy to help me bleed the system once I hook it all up today.

All that $$ on wilwood brakes and SS lines and you didn't spring for speedbleeders too? I have always used Dynamat. Remember, more often than not, you get what you pay for. Dynamat works great. Now the only things that rattle on my hatch are the antenna, the trim, and oddly enough the gas tank (I think there is a piece of metal b/t it and the hatch floor, like a heat shield or something). Still, ~60-70% of the rattling has disappeared.

Looks good

eD just released an even thicker version of eDead: eDead UE. V1 is their thinnest btw. V1SE is thicker and UE is their thickest.

And if you do decide to order from them, use the code "eDeadBA" for a 20% discount.

I've used Stinger RoadKill Extreme before with good results. Just be careful when purchasing "no-name brand" deadner from ebay and such as a lot of times they will advertise roofing paper (with a sticky-back) as deadning material. This 'ish sux the big one.

I didn't think or even know about the speed bleeders until later. Too late for this install, but I'll probably pick them up anyway for when I change out the MC.

The wilwoods feel great, but there's some extra travel in the pedal. I've read the 240SX factory MC contributes to the amount of travel in the pedal and upgrading to a larger caliper just makes it worse. I've got to get a new MC and maybe a proportioning valve. When I was bedding in the pads, the rears locked up all the time.

I know you get what you pay for and it's exactly what I wanted. The paint on material worked great and the thinner edead help out quite a bit. It isn't dynamat and I knew that when I bought it. It's never going to have a quiet ride like my Audi, I just wanted to stop all the little rattles and help with the road noise. I bought a total of 60sq ft of the mat and I ran out before I was able to finish. I'll pick up some more later. Right now I have other upgrades to focus my money on.
