So here is my situation, I am currently in Kuwait. The Army has been gracious enough to allow me to serve 6 more years and in return given me a $15,000 check. I am finally going to build the 240sx I've always wanted. My S13 is already undergoing an S15 face lift. The interior is complete and the last thing I did before coming over here was rip out the KA. I was planning on doing the SR20 swap but that seems lame considering the amout of cash on hand. My question is this, there are a lot of speed shop on the web that offer the RB26 swap, has anyone used any of them? I am looking for a professional shop to do the swap. I can turn a wrench, but I don't want to try this swap myself. I appreciate any and all help.

I had a feeling I'd see 'RB26' in here.

Try Mckinneymotorsports.com

That's the only company I'd ever trust with such a swap.. considering they pretty much pioneered that swap here in the states.

You can do the swap yourself and save money.

Buy their wiring harness, mount kit.. and all you will need to do is the install. Which.. if you can pull an engine out, you can put one in.

15,000$ won't build a dream machine 240 with an RB26. If you went that route, you'd be spending a lot of extra $$ that could have went towards mods.

What's your power goal with this? I think if you're wanting under 600hp, it'd be easy to attain with an RB25DET.. and you'd save yourself a lot of headache.

If you want to go really crazy you can go with the rb26, but like nameless said you can always go rb25det if your goal is under 600 HP. Always use Mckinney mounts I learned the hard way...

I live by Detroit, if you want I can tackle any Nissan swap for you weather it be a SR20, RB, or even V8. I have done Turbo KA swaps, SR swaps, Rb25det swaps, and 1 rb26 swap, but for the budget you are given YOu wont have a too crazy rb26 swap. There are shops here in and around detroit but to have them do it with mods it'll be way over your limit since they charge an arm and a leg. The place I would recommend the most if you don't want me to do it is Godspeed in Novi the next town over from me. The owner Dan will always point you in the right direction and hes a genius when it comes to turbos and tuning cars. He has a guy buying Subaru motors from him from Australia because no one makes them like he does. Godspeed (248) 305-8140 Owner Dan, here is a pic of my personal Rb25DET.-Alex

If I were you, I would definitely send it to Alex. He definitely knows what he's doing. Plus, he's in detroit which is close to you.

Ughh... don't call me a "sweetheart". That's gross! lol

Seriously though, from what I have seen and heard on these boards, Alex is definitely an expert. I would certainly trust him and his shop to do an install.

Hey Alex... any chance of you coming over to Wisconsin to help me figure out my RB20? Road Trip? It's only like 8 hours drive...

Green Bay is a little over 100 miles from Escanaba. It's only about 45 minutes or less from the Michigan border.

There are some serious hotties in the UP. I met this chick at a ski hill up there.. wow... knock out... Too bad she was still in high school... 17 will get you 20!

Alex,

I will be home from Kuwait late this year. I am interested in a quote from you. I am now in the process of running down different shops prices and options. I am looking for a time estimate and a $ amount.

I am looking to produce about 325-375 hp. You should know I have the 89 S13 the engine bay is stripped down for the most part and the wiring harness is out. I am having the S15 conversion install done while I am gone. I will be home for 2 weeks during June for vacation. I start that vacation at HIN in Chicago on the 11th. Any chance of us meeting up during those weeks?

Let me know what you think.

Thanks again,--XsvFrce

Hey Nameless, I get what you are saying about the RB26DETT. Here is my reasoning, I am getting a $15000 bonus from Uncle Sam, but a few days after my post reality set in. I can't spen all of that on my car. I need to invest some and save some.

Think about it for a minuet, if I did the swap most of that cash would be gone and we all know you will never see that out of your car if you sell it. So, why not go RB25DET when it is so much cheaper and still has great hp potential? What did you put into yours so far? Hit me back.

Now your thinking! I agree completely... I don't think much more than 400hp is very streetable in a 240sx. You can get there very easily with an RB25det. No need for the 26. Don't get me wrong.. the 26 is a better engine.. but probably not necessary.

I would guess you could get the 25 in there for $3500 ($2500 for engine and another grand for mounts, driveshaft, etc... parts). I'm not an expert though on 25's.

Then another $2000 to get your hp up where you want it...? Now you have almost $10,000 to invest, down payment on a house, etc...

See if you can get an RB25 with 6,000 KM on it... that way Alex will stop bragging

By the way.... xsvfrce... Props to you for serving in the military. That's awesome. I admire and appreciate it! Thanks man!

Are you asking me why I didn't go with the RB25? Or asking to why I'd recommend it over the RB26? Because at one point.. I did have the RB25DET ready to drop. I changed my mind and sold it to Cameron @ NightScammerRacing. :P

If you only want 375-400.. personally, I wouldn't even go with an RB. The SR20 can do that pretty easily. Better yet, a KA-T.

That 15k definetely isn't money to waste, you're right about that. You could use a good 10k on a build though. 5k you could invest. And on a 10k budget, I see a 4 cylinder setup being the most practical for a street car that you may want to sell down the road. My car, I am not worried a bit about what I will get from selling it - it's race only.. I probably won't sell it, I'll end up blowing the engine to bits and giving the whole shabang to a friend so he can continue it's legacy. :P

I know I could build one mean a$$ 4 cylinder for 10k though.

Hope that helps. Oh.. I really haven't put much into it yet. I haven't even seen it in a month, it's in storage while I concentrate on graduating. That's priority for ya!! ugh.
