Hi all,

New to the forum here. Looks like a great place to chat.

I'm coming up on the 15,000 mile mark on our 08 Rogue S AWD. The dealer wants $300 for it.

This seems pretty pricey to me. Is this service necessary and if I decide not to perform it, will it void my warranty? Do I have to have it performed at a dealer?

Thanks for your recommendations,CJ

My dealer didn't ask me about any services. I would deny anyway because they overcharging for the service. First of all it would not void the warranty and second the warranty is almost half way out anyway. I wouldn't worry about it.

I agree, I would recommend getting a list of everything that is done for the $300 bucks, then take the car to another reputable garage to perform the same work and I bet it's no more than 100 bucks.

You're giving Nissan grounds to deny warranty coverage if you don't perform recommended service/maintenance.

No. No manufacturer can force you to have service performed at its dealers.

Read your Maintenance Guide. You decide which level of maintenance your Rogue requires (depending on your driving conditions) We do schedule 2 as most of our driving is done on the highway, with cool/clean conditions.

Our dealer checks all of the "inspect' list with our $35 oil changes so anything over that is moot. At 20,000 miles, they 'suggested' changing the air and cabin filters which I will do myself.

$300 is way too much...

Change oil - $20-30Air filter - $15-20Wiper blades - $30-40Tire rotation - $10 or free if you have jacksCabin air filter - $10-15 online - DIY (dealer charges like $90 to do it because its a pain to do sometimes.)

All and all you can do all the service yourself for near $100 bucks. Or you can take it to a Midas or something of the like and save a whole bunch, all of which does nothing to impact your warranty. The very basic services you have to do is to change the oil/filter, engine air filter, and rotate your tires.

Thanks all, for the great info. I called up our local Firestone Complete Auto Care center and the tech looked up the 15,000 mile recommended service for the rogue. And as some of you have mentioned, the total cost will be under $100. So we'll be heading there tomorrow.

I thought something was fishy at the dealership -- what is lacking in sales, they need to make up in service I suppose...

FYI: when the dealers quote $300+ for the 15K service, I believe that that would include everything listed in the "Premium" Maintenance Schedule.

Quoting Nissan: "Using the Premium Maintenanceschedule may optimize theperformance, reliability, and resalevalue of your vehicle."

Basically for those of us with bottomless wallets!!!!
