Don't quote me on this one but I think they will be fine. I think I have heard that the base Versa models come with 14" wheels... I could be totally wrong though.

Best thing you could do is try them before you buy them if they will let you.

I read on here that 14's are too small due to the brakes on the SL, do not quote me on it, just do a quick search.

If you have the 1.8 motor, they will NOT fit. The clearance is already really tight on the stock 15" wheels. Doesn't matter if it's an S or SL. They have the same brakes. They will fit on the 1.6 true base models as those have smaller brakes and come with 14" wheels stock.

Just stick with 15" wheels and get winter tires, easy said and done!

Are you sure about that? When I look up brake specs I get the same information for both the 1.6 and 1.8.11.02 inch x0.92 disc. 9 inch drumI also noticed on versaspeed he is selling rotors and says they will fit the 1.8 and 1.6.I wouldn't think those would be smaller then stock and there isn't anything saying 1.6 owners would have to change wheel size.

I'm pretty sure. Someone on this forum has tried 14" wheels before and said they didn't work. I can just look at my brakes through the alloys and tell there is no more room to go a size smaller. Not to mention you would have fat balloon tires and decreased handling. Econocars usually already have the smallest wheels that will fit over the brakes. So my conclusion is yes, the 1.6 true base Versas do have slightly smaller calipers since they come with 14"s stock.

I knew it wouldn't handle the best but in the winter I dont think they were looking for performance.Just seems strange they would use a different caliper with same rotors.

i am in the hudson valley new york. i own a base 1.6 with 14" wheels. if anyone is local and wants to try to put one on their 1.8 versa, it will answer all questions.
