My Rogue just hit 15k miles and it appears that my rotors are no longer functioning properly. When breaking on highway semi-strong vibration develops in the steering wheel. Would this be covered by warranty? Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Have you driven through any puddles lately?

No puddles or any other weather related conditions. Nor, have I driven aggressively or short stopped. The breaks do not squeak either.

i am sure it would be covered; but just so you know = brakes are wear items, and generally are NOT covered.

this is typical for this car. brake issues-galore.

cant say. depends on your driving. if you drive where you have to take a lot of highway off-ramps, resulting in loooooong braking / or quick HARD bursts of braking = expect warped rotors quickly. thats a lot different than someone who does stop & go city-style driving, where the rotors dont build up a lot of heat, due to slow speeds; which result in worn pads, but good rotors. its too complex to give you an answer i can stand by.

in my experience with this car, this as a general rule of thumb (for those who dont drive hard)
OEM pads: 25-50k
OEM rotors: 15-30k
OEM calipers: 30-50k

personally me:
ALL of the calipers were replaced under 60k. thats just disgusting if you ask me.
and since i replaced all the calipers, i a;sp replaced the pads & rotors. no reason to do the same job 3 times(once for pads, then once for rotors, and then once again for calipers.)

the OEM equipment is PURE JUNK. its designed to be very lite-weight, which saves weight (which results in better fuel economy; which by the way President Obama and his tree-hugging crew mandated. Current rules for the Corporate Average Fuel Economy, or CAFE, program mandate an average of about 29 miles per gallon, with gradual increases to 35.5 m.p.g. by 2016.) thats what happens when uneducated individuals force their agenda upon the people. what tree-huggers dont understand is that current engines are about as efficient as they will ever get. but do the tree-huggers care? no! they demand their way, or no way. so after obama signed the bill into law = car makers scrambled and realized the only way to get the MPG's up, is to reduce the vehicle weight. and how do you do that? REDUCE THE SIZE(thus reducing the life-span) ON HEAVY ITEMS! ALSO BY REDUCING THE WEIGHT OF CERTAIN KEY-ITEMS, THEY REDUCED THE SAFETY OF VEHICLES.(because they didnt replace the heavier metals, with stronger more expensive materials.... they simply reduced the thickness of certain metals.) by the way: this isnt just nissan, its all makes/models. they all are stressing to increase MPG's or face the fines.

...dont even get me started. lol

just because your rogue looks little different, compared to the 1st gen; doesn't mean our parts are different. have a read: post4064919.html

My last Nissan, an 05 Altima, went 90,000km before I changed the rotors (backs actually went first). This would be what I'd describe as unusual but I drove it with the aim of making them last. Saying that, I'd sure expect to get more than 15,000mi/25,000km out of a set of rotors unless you are very hard on them. I know the 14 Rogue has a new rear rotor design (vented this year), not sure about the front. Given the change to a global platform for 2014 I wouldn't be surprised if the whole braking system was new.

Realize this is an older post, but does anyone have a recommendation for replacement front rotors that will last longer than the stock ones on a 2014? Don't want to go OEM if they're going to warp again, and most all the slotted ones I've seen online are for the rear.

Great question, I have a '14 with just under 20k and my rotors are starting to shake as well. I previously owned a '04 Maxima that went through rotors every 20k miles. I'd say over 70% of the miles are city miles. It's just not right that they only last this long.

Our 2004 Quest had the same problem until we replaced the stock rotors with slotted ones.

Just had the Rogue rotors turned again so I guess we will be a bit more careful with the brakes until we can find some decent aftermarket options.

the problem isnt so much which brand of rotors, as the fact that this fat pig of a car has teeny-tiny brakes that punish the rotors & pads & calipers. wait till you folks start seeing the calipers going, like they did on the 08-13

Are the calipers and rotors for a 3rd row version of the Rogue a bolt-on option for a 2014?
