Any idea what is clicking in my engine compartment? Seems to only happen when warm. As I live in Phoenix....

I have a video to email anyone who wants to hear it? Seems to be on the left hand side if standing in front of the car. So passenger side.

i know i am going to come of shrude but... you have a brand new car, with a full warranty. whats the point of trying to get us to diagnose your "tick"?
just go back to the dealer, get it resolved - then come back on here and tell us the verdict.

at this stage of the game = no one on here can help you.

Not shrude. Just honest and makes sense.

Just didn't know if it was a normal thing in a newer car. I'll call the dealer.

glad you didnt take me the wrong way. i know sometimes things can be taken the wrong way via text. certainly get it checked out, and report back. if you really feel the sound isn't normal, don't let your dealer shrug you off; just go to another dealer.

Nothing wrong with asking the forum a question before heading to the dealership. :yesnod Particularly since a new car bumper to bumper warranty is "limited". Just because your vehicle is experience a problem under it's new car warranty does not gaurantee that the dealership will fix the problem. :tisk:

My has the same clicking. Sounds like a lifter based on everything I'd reading. I'll let you all know what nissan says.

Yes, please let us know what you find out. Mine is pretty faint, nothing like the video.

1. I don't think "shrude" is a real word...but everyone just seemed to go with it so, whatever.

2. Does it seem to come and go (or get worse) with the climate control turned on? We have a 2011 Maxima and 2014 Rogue and both of them seem to have a knocking sound on the passenger side of the engine compartment. It seems worse when climate controls are on.

Alternator. I assume a baring as it wasn't consistent. Sadly they won't have a new one till Friday.

Well we'll see when I get it back. But they said they unplugged it and it went away.

If you'd like to hear what mine sounded like send me your email. I'll send you the video I took. The clicking was absolutely coming straight from the alternator though. I just didn't want to believe it.

sent a PM with e-mail, curious to hear it. I have been thinking the sound was normal so didn't pay to much attention. Thanks!

not mine, but my car also sounded like this. Similar sound, but less metronomic that the lifter.

Well the car sat at the dealership for a week while they waited for part, but it's back and fixed.

Alternator.
