I searched the forum and I saw plenty of posts about the electric power steering but nothing in terms of where to start with replacing it. I want to do it myself but I've never worked with an electric PS before and was hoping someone could give me a starting place. From what I can tell, the unit is under the dash correct? Will I need any special tools or anything? Any advice or tips?

I've not done a replacement on a rogue, or for that matter an all electric unit. I have replaced an old style steering rack with power steering fluid involved. Is that what you're talking about replacing? The rack itself? Have you checked YouTube?

If you're talking about the rack itself, you may have to drop the subframe and disconnect the steering wheel column. If so keep in mind that there is a steering angle sensor in the column and you do not want to loose track of where the steering wheel is once you disconnect it. Lock it in place.

Look at the FSM which is linked in this site in the stickys at the top of the page. That should give you an idea of what's involved.
Why does yours need replacing?

I believe you will want the STC Section. Though you may want to check some of the others and see if they apply also.

If you do it yourself take lots of pics and write it up for this forum.
