12V Ipod Car Charger Radio Noise

Hello Everyone:

First time poster. Nice to see such great Versa community. I just bought an 08 Versa Hatch Back this past weekend in BC Canada near Vancouver. So far love the car. I traded in a 95 civic Si with over 200K. I was getting about 29 mpg city driving. I am hoping that the Versa does better.

I am currenlty experiencing a strange issue with my radio. I do not have an auxillary input so I bought a monster power adapter/ FM transmitter to play my ipod through the radio.

A high pitched humming sound emmitts through the speakers when I plug in the power adapter to the 12V center console outlet. The high pitched sound is constant and intensifies with volume increase. I took the car to the dealer and they could not solve the problem. I tested several other versas on the lot and the same problem occured. This device works perfectly well on other non versas cars.

Is anybody else experiencing a similar issue?

Anyways, I'm using the same one and i'm not getting any noises in my Versa. Could it possibly be the FM frequency you are dialing into and you're hearding radio static on your speakers?

My girlfriend used that one in her Honda Civic last summer and experienced the same problem. Although it would come and go. Usually if she unplugged it from the ipod and then plugged it back in it would go away. Try that, as I understand it, it is interference from other signals.

The high pitched noise continues irregardless of radio station. Both of these work perfectly in my 04 pathfinder and other cars.

I tested this on another brand new 08 versa with 10KM and the noise was exactly the same. I am starting to believe that it is a grounding issue with the 12V power supply.

I use that on my 08 V SL HB with my iPod classic 80gb. Admittedly, I only use it for power and it's handy "the car just turned off, so I'm pausing your iPod" signal, and use audio via the line in on my SL. I hear no noise like you describe, whether listening to the iPod, CD, or radio.
