Many of you guys have posted about "300whp" and such but how fast would that be on a 1/4mile? I plan to get a CA soon, like in a month or so, and I was wondering how much hp does it need to get into the 13s range. How about 12s? I'm not into drag racing so i don't really care about huge power...if I do i would get a something else(diff car n engine). I'm mainly into mountain road where the question of weight distribution means more than anything. I'm trying to learn more about CA everyday but it's a hard task when you have a slow mind ^_^. Where was I..oh yes...just like everybody else on this planet...more power is a good thing but I don't want to much..especailly putting a lot of stress on my low budget CA :D . Would running 13s or 12s put tremendous stress on the engine?

note: it's for daily driving..not just racing

Watch Initial D and think Takumi. You don't need 300whp/a 12/13 second car to race. Especially if you're racing downhill. Get the suspenion sistuation sorted out first. If the motor is just dying (as mine was, hence the lack of suspention) then get the CA in there, but I wouldn't do much too it. I've had both power and suspension, and I miss the suspension. You can do SOOOO much more with a lower powered, good handling car, than you can with a high powered, poor handling car. Trust me, this is from experience.

Just make an educated guess. A Lotus Elise weighs 2000 lbs, has 190 hp runs 13 sec quarter. An S13 w/ ca18 weighs~2600 lbs, w/ 300 whp has ~7.4 lb/bhp vs. the Elise's 10.5 lb/bhp. You could be in the 12's easily.

i know that...i'm just bored and curious. I'm not like the JDM freak that thinks Takumi is real. I just love driving on the mountain...I'm sorry but it's addicting. Deals Gap was an awesome experience. I know you don't need high horsepower. I don't plan to get high horse power anyway. Like float said, my motor is dying...barely running and since a CA costs only around 1700...why not. I got the suspension done already. I'm not asking for advice or anything but just bored that's all. Please don't shoot me

hahaha. Serious Dee, it's for daily driving. The most I'll ever get is 250whp...that's a lot for me. 200whp-215whp is more reasonable. I don't have the money and knowledge to run with the big boys. All I have are driver skills...which is not a lot anyway^_^The only person I race with is my friend's S14. We go to deals gap together

I went with him and drifted on my Specialized bicycle. And, man, my bicycle had all sorts of stock stickers. I wonder if it was stock rice.

But anyways guys, answer his question please: "Would running 13s or 12s put tremendous stress on the engine?"

Alright,

The answer to your question is "No" in the fact that 250whp will not create enough stress to make you worry. You can get 250whp out of your stock T25, but you had better not be taking it past 12 psi too many times or it will crap on you quickly. I've trashed about four T25s pushing them to around 15psi on a normal basis and unplugging the wastegate and making them scream till they smoke and eventually puke up it's guts. So in closing, you can get really close to 250whp on the stock system, but you will be borderlining it. Get some bigger injectors and maybe a super AFC and you can get where you want to go a little more safer.

...sorry to let you down LiU but my mighty-***-owing-VTEC tank is too much to handle so I've sold it to some vietnamese kid near by. Not trying to be racist but we all know Vietnamese love Honda. I have the priviledge of saying so because I too am a Vietnamese .jahahha
