like the title...what needs to be done? i know of course oil change, oil filter, air filter (soon to be a AEM), o2 sensor?, transmission fluid, transmission fluid filter (AT), rear diff, btw just did a tune up (plugs, wires, rotor and cap) last year like... but what else? thanks for the input.

The FSM will tell you what to do at certain mileages, but if you have not or do not know if it's all been done at the right mileages before, then it's not really gonna help. I'd say if you don't know what's been done then change all the fluids that haven't been done: coolant, trans. oil, rear diff. oil, and you can even drain the power steering oil (automatic trans. fluid in that thing). Yes, I'd do the oxygen sensor too.

I have heard of (but never actually experienced) some automatic transmissions that fail after a fluid change that has been too long delayed, mostly in domestic models though. The reason, as I was told, was that the transmission was weakened by the filthy old fluid, then the fresh new fluid, with all it's detergents and additives, actually break all the worn parts up and some serious slipping results. Don't know if there's too much truth to this, and not trying to scare you, but just thought I'd say something about it. Anyone with real knowledge should chime in on this one.

It depends on how you drive it. Overall synthetic is always better than conventional. Synthetics generally speaking will have a better detergent and antifoam additive package, and will flow better when cold and stay protective under extreme heat. If this is a daily driver that sees a bit of "spirited" driving once in a while, then conventional is fine, but if you are hard on it or just want a bit of extra protection and have the budget for the extra cost of synthetic, then I say go for it.

I've been using synthetic engine, transmission, and rear differential oil for several years (since I've had the car) and though it's not something that gives you real HP numbers, it's piece of mind that everythings good to go when you want to lay into it, and you don't get that guilty feeling when you are too lazy to change the oil right on time.
