What does this generally include? If you've done one, how much does it cost? Does the price justify the service that was done? Is it best to have it done at the dealership? Jiffy Lube offers this Signature Gold Service that replaces most fluids (i.e. rear diff, transmission flush, etc.), but is that comprable?

When i did my "120k service" i did it over about a 3000 mile time slot

I changed the airfilter, fuel filter, spark plugs, rear diff fluid, PS fluid, rotated the tires, etc. Spark plugs are $55 from me, air/fuel filter are about $7 each, rear diff fluid is $5, PS fluid is ATF....

dealer is something like $900 to do a 120K service when I had mine done and of course they always find a little something else to charge you with. Depends on your trust in the independent shop mechanics to do the basics in the 120K service.

Also at or close to 120K I think the valve cover seals start to leak and since you will already have almost everything off during the 120K, you might want to consider having them resealed as well to do some preventative maintenance and save some labor dollars down the road. I did this with my car, but they did not reseal them right at the dealer and they had to redo the job again after 7,000 miles later. One of the good times I enjoyed paying the extra to get the dealer to redo the work as I think most independent shops only give a 3month/3,000 mile warranty.

RSIWICKI - Did they give you a breakdown of what was done to justify the cost? In other words, were there a lot of new parts replaced as part of the service? From Wes' description, it appears that spark plugs are the only "new" parts involved...the rest is just fluid changes and/or flushes. Is that correct?

120k stuff is the same as what is done at the 60k mile point ... the standard users manual list all the stuff.

Just had mine done at 111,000 miles.

I was getting this burning oil smell so I took it in, and they told me that they found both the left and right bank valve covers leaking. They resealed both valve covers and put new gasket rocker covers all for $947. Ouch!!!

Thank God for extended warranty especially after 100,000 miles.

So now that this was done at 111, what would be left to do at 120 to justify that stiff service charge? And I’m pretty sure that my warranty co. will not want to cover that. LOL….

Plugs, fluids, filters, maybe pads, all the stuff that wears out and is not covered by valve cover servicing.
