My 01.5 PF just hit 120k tonight. Owner's manual just says to replace engine coolant, air filter, oil & filter, and differential fluid, and inspect a bunch of other things. I was planning on doing the following regardless:
  • Will be changing:
  • Engine oil & filter (with Valvoline Maxlife oil & Genuine Nissan oil filter)
  • Automatic transmission fluid (Genuine Nissan), filter & gasket (Beck Arnley)
  • Rear differential fluid (Genuine Nissan)
  • Engine coolant (Genuine Nissan & distilled water)
  • Putting threadlocker on power valve screws

    Recently done the following:
  • Power steering fluid (Genuine Nissan, turkey baster method)
  • Cleaned MAF sensor
  • Airbag system inspected @ Nissan dealer (10 years from manufacturing date)
  • Lubricated locks & hinges

    Done within past 6 months:
  • Drive belts replaced
  • All wipers replaced
  • Fuel filter replaced (NAPA brand)
  • In-cabin air filter replaced (NAPA brand)
  • Gumout fuel system cleaner (through one tank only)
  • P1140 & P1145 fixed (replacements bought from Amazon)
Car currently has no CEL and only a slow oil leak from I believe the rear main seal (which I hope Maxlife oil will stop). Engine air filter looks clean. I don't know when the spark plugs were changed last; will find out. No applicable recalls at the moment.

Anything I'm missing?

I would recommend using better fluids on some of the things than just the normal nissan ones.

I.E:

I used Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 75-90w for both differentials,

Used Valvoline Maxlife ATF fluid for trans,

For oil i dont think maxlife is full synthetic, ive been using valvoline full synthetic since about 25k.

Coolant doesnt really matter, id probably say nissan genuine is better than some of the other stuff, i used prestone when i did mine.

When you changed your PS fluid, did you notice a diff in the steering? Is it lighter/heavier, more smooth or something, i have to do mine probably over the holidays.

and as you said for things you are missing, i dont know if they were done before but,

While you at the ATF fluid change, get some extra ATF and change out the transfer case fluid, i still have to do mine,

Change out your front diff oil too while your doing your rear one you might as well knock 2 out.

Edit: Just realized in your thing that your in Florida, so the above 2 probably dont apply to you since you probably got 2wd.

I do indeed have 2WD, so transfer case and front differential are not applicable for me.

I now realize that buying Genuine Nissan branded fluids is a giant waste of money ($13/pint for PSF?? come on). I will buy different branded, and most likely better (despite their being cheaper) fluids in the future. But for now I've got all the fluids I need except for oil, so may as well use them.

I know Maxlife is a synthetic blend, but I read it has seal conditioners or something. Like I said I'm hoping for it to stop my slow oil leak. Changing the rear main seal is too expensive to get done and too labor intensive to do otherwise.

After changing PSF, steering feels somewhat easier/smoother, but it's not a gigantic difference. The first time I sucked out the PSF out of the reservoir, it smelled absolutely terrible. I swapped out three pints of fluid. The old fluid was really dark purple. I think I'll change out a pint of PSF every oil change from now on as part of regular maintenance.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I'll be putting threadlocker on power valve screws soon, fixed that in first post listing too.
