Hello world, I just bought a 2012 M37x a few hours ago and while I love everything about it so far there is one minor issue. The plastic pieces surrounding my steering column are separating whenever I lower or push the wheel in, or both. Whenever I do this it makes it extremely hard to move the wheel because the plastic is mashing up against each other. I'm bringing it back to the dealer tomorrow I'm just curious if anyone else here has has this issue and is it a quick fix? Please calm my nerves and thank you for reading.

:welcome: to NICO!

It certainly doesn't sound normal... I'll be interested to hear how they fix it.

Good luck!

Havent had that porblem. They probably just need to clip those pieces back together. Top one is most likely caught on something causing it to separate. They might need to replace the plastics if the clips are broken. Should be an easy fix though.

Cars all set and is like brand new, I was in and out within an hour and the dealership was totally professional.

Hi,

Any update on this issue for you or others?

The same exact issue happened to my 2013 M37 last week.

Took it to the dealer and they "fixed it so that it will never be a problem for me again".

Broke again today.

Thx!

I had the 2 piece cover before and it was super easy to remove and get it back straight...but now that I did the Paddle Shifter mod I can tell you that it is a pain to get all 4 pieces to fit nice and straight with no gaps!

This happened to me when I first got mine this past October. This appears to be a known issue with the steering column.

Got mine fixed and it hasn't happened again since

Hey guys, took a while to find someone else having this issue, but it just started happening. I haven't taken to dealership (have to go to Nissan if I stay local). Anyone know what the fix was at the dealership?
Thanks,
JH

Several guys had the problem. Some of us fixed it ourselves. Check out this thread: steering-wheel-rubbing-plastic-housing-t609452.html

If you are having this issue when it tilts there is a fault in the steering column. If you still have a warranty, have the dealer replace the column. The first fix they will do is adjust the cover and trim the tabs off the bottom because they don't really serve a purpose. Eventually what will happen is that it will start returning too far up and put pressure on the bottom of the dashboard and lower panel. I had this issue and they ended up having to replace the column.
