I did plenty of searching some say yes go with nissan ester oil to avoid engine sounds others say use a synthetic or others say use convential oil Im confused?? Is nissan ester a synthetic oil? If it is a synthetic can I go with the service two and change my oil every 7500k??

You don't need Ester oil. If you want synthetic just have them do a synthetic oil change.

Stay away from the Ester Oil. The dealership around here is doing away with Ester oil changes. Big Hype that has since failed.

So stay away from nissan ester oil? If I change my oil every three months is conventional oil ok? Any way to know what oil my 2010 G37 has from the factory?.

How many miles will you put on the car in the three months? The dealership here uses Mobil 1 conventional oil and mile interval is 3750. You could use a full synthetic like AMSOIL. They have a couple different options: Recently released OE which is designed for what ever the car manufacturer recommends and cheaper than Mobil 1 synthetic. XL series which is designed for 6 months or 10k miles. Signature series which is designed for 1yr or 25k miles. Mileage based on normal driving conditions. You can become a Preferred Customer and buy at wholesale cost.

I purchased a quart of Nissan Ester oil from ebay. The quart states it is a synthetic oil. After reading threads after doing a search some stated that nissan ester oil is not a synthetic oil.

Eh I think that's a bit short and harsh. Ester is a long debate history.... Long story short after the reflash in mid 2008 none of the 3.7 engines really need it.

However;
As an additive ester is hands down more bang for the buck than anything out there. The science behind this oil is sound, the engine was after it was actually designed for the vvel system. I personally do not know if the full amount of oil is required to be ester as the amount of ester in the actual oil is only a small amount, adding the ester as an additive would be more inline with what Nissan was trying to get people to do with ester.

It work in some of the VKs for noise too.

What is "Mobil 1 conventional oil"? Mobil 1 is a "full synthetic" brand, isn't it? Their conventional oils are not badged "Mobil 1" as far as I can tell, if conventional==dinosaur. This is not a troll, I might learn something.

Semi synthetic not full syntethic. It is a blend. I remember reading about Mobil 1 and in Japan and Europe can't label their oil as a true full syntethic oil since it is a blend. They can get away with it here in North America.

I can't find a Mobil 1 product on the Mobil site that isn't described as "fully synthetic". In general, you see the terms "full synthetic", "fully synthetic", and "100% synthetic" used without really explaining them. I can find discussions that suggest those three are not the same thing, and that maybe even "full synthetic" and "fully synthetic" are not the same thing, but I can't find where anyone actually pins down what each of the three terms means. I'm pretty sure that 100% synthetic means just that, but it's possible that full/fully synthetic are like Humpty Dumpty saying "Glory".

What I _can_ find is agreement that synthetic/dino blends offer some of the lubrication advantages of straight synthetic oil but do not extend the breakdown/oil-change interval, and I've seen remarks that Nissan Ester oil is a blend, not a straight synthetic.

My bottom line issue is same as OP's: I'd like to go with Schedule 2 maintenance but hedge my bets with synthetic oil.

Some of this issue is also being discussed in the "$11 a quart" thread I jump started last night.

I must be dizzy from not eating lunch. In the middle of posting, my mind switched over to the "Regular v. Synthetic Oil" thread.....

Very few oils out there are "true synthetics" anymore.

Royal Purple
Amsoil
German Castrol
Redline

I used Royal Purple for the longest time but the cost just keeps going up. $19 for a quart of gear oil! crazy. $9.50 for a quart of 5W-30.

Unfortunately the courts made "synthetic" meaningless in the US as a label in the case between Mobil and Castrol. It took me a while to suss that out for myself. I think we need to talk about PAO or ester based rather than using the term synthetic when we mean oils that are actually synthesized, and even then we probably need to be stating percentages.
