Doesn't have to be coastal "EXACTLY", Chico, Paradise, Orland and Redding do idle smog also. Basically the white trash towns of the North are still sooo broke they don't do the dyno smog.PandaS14 wrote:

That's how I have both of my cars registered. On a side note, make sure it's a county on the coast, or they will still have dyno smog. 2 speed idle is for coastal areas. Just check and make sure before you do it.
So if I use the the stock OEM CAT would that help the EGR system pump the exhaust gases back through the intake manifold? If this is the plan of action then I would just switch back to my hi Flow CAT after smog check....Can't I also reduce the amount of NOX by using synthetic OIL instead of petro based oil?My understanding is that synthetic oil doesn't burn like petro based oils.......I also have a plan on having e85 fuel shipped to me from Minnesotta, just for the smog check, does it seem like a good idea??? Especially if I decide to register the car where I live.E85= 85% ethanol, 15% petro fuel........Thanks for the help fellas, much appreciated...InsanityInc wrote:an 11:1 CR will actually help your emissions, except that your NOx will go up, but your EGR system should be able to take care of the extra if it's in good working order.
