With the Q50 looming, my local Infiniti dealer still has twenty-two 2013 G37x sedans. I don't need NAV and they have a few stickering for $42k. $32k plus tax and tags would be hard to resist. I have an '08 G35x and love it, only problem has been chipped paint on the steering wheel covered under warranty. Car has been rock solid with 51,000 miles. Thinking of getting rid of my '99 RX 300 and going with a pair of G's. While it's supply and demand and to know for sure I will have to wait, but does anyone have educated guesses as to G37 discounts post Q50 release? I have no interest in leases as I keep my vehicles and don't get tax breaks like business owners.

I highly doubt that you will see $10K off of MSRP. However, the dealers are aggressively discounting G37s right now. A dealer in California quoted me a $44,560 MSRP car for $38,060.

There may be an MSRP reduction in the near future. See below:

Infiniti is preparing to roll out its hotly anticipated 2014 Q50, a car that not only ushers in a new alphanumeric naming strategy, it ostensibly replaces the G37 as the brand's bread-and-butter sport sedan. That will happen, but not in the short-term, as the G37 will continue to be manufactured and sold alongside the Q50, at least for the rest of this year.

Infiniti spokesman Kyle Bazemore has confirmed to Autoblog that a decision is pending on how long to extend the G37 sedan's production run. "We're taking Q50 up a little bit, and that allows us to keep the G Sedan in the lineup... It [Q50] certainly started as a replacement, but it ended up being much more than that." Confusingly, Infiniti has already announced that the Q50 is to start at $37,605 (including $905 destination charge), yet the 2013 G37 is more expensive, starting at $38,255 delivered according to Infiniti's consumer website. Thus, a price drop on the G37 is likely coming in short order.

That's very interesting news - I always assumed the G37 had stopped production but your information supports why my dealer has so many G's in stock. Well, $32k is my number regardless of MSRP and discount. If not, I'll wait for the 4-cyl turbo Q50.

I'm sure there will be some discounting. I'll be paying attention as it's time to trade-up the sedan. Will know sometime after August 5th when the Q50 finally hits the dealerships....
