Hello all - I have looked around here for suggestions regarding the 106,000 mile service for my '95 J30 (Cincinnati, Oh). Here's the list I have along with Scottsdale's phone #:

Replace below with Factory parts:1. Timing Belt 2. Water Pump - because you are there...3. Thermostat (along with housing, hose, and metal tube)4. Idler Pulley 5. Cam Shaft Seals6. Upper and Lower Radiator Hoses7. Fuel filter, Air filter, Oil Filter8. Spark Plugs9. Brake Line Bleed10. Tension Rods and Bushings (all dried up and squeaky)

Define for me the following:A. Bearing Seals connected to Timing Belt? Are these just new parts to order?B. Tensioner Pulley/Bearing - is this the same as the Idler pulley or a different part to replace while Timing belt is off?C. Oxygen Sensor's - do these need to be replaced?D. BG44 Fuel line cleaner - what's the difference between this and the "triple pack" my local dealer referred to?

This will all be done with a private, experienced mechanic NOT at the local dealer - don't care for them at all here.

At 80K: Drive Belts changed, Oil Sensor changed, Throttle body cleaning, Trans Flush, Brake pads replaced. Oil is changed every 3K.

If I need to order other parts for things that SHOULD be done at this time - please add to my list. I don't mind investing in the vehicle and certainly want to minimize labor costs - so whatever else I need to have done while the timing belt is off please let me know!! Thanks in advance for your guidance - this board is great - especially for non-mechanical folks like me! Kira.

I forgot to ask about the Alternator - this is another part that I thought might need changing just due to age, etc... Let me know your thoughts. Thanks again!! Kira

I'll answer just a couple. Yes, replace the O2 sensor(s?). Check with AZhitman to see if he can hook you up with a good deal if you don't mind splicing wires. For the alternator, they can last quite a while. You would be better off spending a little less on a new battery every 2 years or so.

you'll certainly have a happy J after all that. Make sure you get a good BG rail flush not just dumping a can in the gas tank and taking off. also change the differential fluid out. If you haven't already done so, might consider replacing your struts. Although that could easily up your labor fee a considerable amount.

Clean the debris that has accumulated in the front, and check your radiator/condenser area for debris. If the radiator has side baffles like the Q, might replace those.

Oh yeah, clean your engine first before you take it in. Your tech will see you care and will give you better service than if you bring him a dirty greaseball.

a lot of guys like to replace the pcv valves but they are a PAIN! good chance the upper plenum is going to have to come off for that. might just wanna wait till an injector fails for that. but while you're in there you can get a good intake cleaning

Will a new battery reduce wear on the alternator? I've never heard of this before? I drive a 93 J30 with 174k miles on it. The current battery is about 3½ years old.

What is a rail flush? I assume it is for the gas line. Is there any harm in using a product like prolong or duralube?

Prolong and Duralube have been alleged to contain Fluorine/Chlorine Hydrocarbons which create HydroFluoric/hydrochloric acid as a break down prouct which attacks the bearings and aluminum VIGOROUSLY!Nasty stuff!

Nothing beats quality oil changed frequently.
