There were tons of spin outs, lost bumpers, and close calls at the formula drift this year. My camera's batteries died before they did the leading and chasing. In the end a Nissan 350z was the victor. He beat out a Porsche GT2. A R34 and a FC rx-7 lost their bumpers mid drift. Overall it was a fun day, I was there for about 7 and 1/2 hours.

Now Pictures:

Some bad some good

What are the holes for?

I am so confused here. What the hell is going on with this KA-T? Are those coil packs like the SR20 uses? I see the dizzy is not in use...

Great pics, BTW. Looks like every S chassis swap possible was present and accounted for there...

^ I believe they are, it is a KA, but if you look closely there are no sparkplug wires coming from the Distro. cap, this would lead me to believe that they have to be something of that sort, becuase hes not getting spark from the normal place that KA's get it from.

I was talking to a guy about that KA-T in the stands and he said that some people in Cali. (he was from there) use chipped SR ECUs to make KA-T's out there and just make a custom harness adapter. so then in theory if you were using the SR ECU using SR coil packs would be a breeze. He didn't know if that's how they did it for sure but the explanation makes sense.

BTW that car was the sex. I saw it an was like OMG KA-T??? With SR coil packs??? Lol I love the clutch fan too...

Not to change the subject from the kick-*** KA-T but did anyone find that the vendors this year were weak? I didn't get one free energy drink the whole time I was there even though every drifter is sponsored by one.

Lol it was a great event. Blazing hot weather and burning hot girls !! The S13.4 with the LS1 made me sweat so much that I had to buy one of their shirts. There was a couple of cool a$s dudes me and my cousin saw throughout the day. One of them said they had an S14 with 4 lug and an SR and wanted watanabe's. Getting out of the parking lot was way way way fun. People walked by giving me compliments on my "Live and Die by the RWD" and "I'M KILLING IT" stickers.

I'm not a fan of the extra tiny sideview mirrors on that car.

The whole event was plain out weak sauce, me and the girl left during the final 8 because the wait between each set was extruciating. 3/4 of the effing field was GM which was fine when it was just Rhys with his GTO or him and his Solstice but now they're all in GM or domestics for the most part. There aren't any Privateers left, though I shook the dude from Wisconsins' hand and gave him props. It's way to commercialized anymore. Hell me and the gf had more fun watching the drag races over at the strip side during the effing 5 hour break between quals and the top 16. It was totally unorganized, we got there at 1/4 after 11 and we were both scratching our heads about the parking or even what the hell was going on... And don't get me started on the $32 for "reserved seats" when there wasn't any seating to be found 45 minutes before the top 16 even started. What a ripoff, I've been ever single year it's been in Jersey and the last 2 years have been absolute crap. The vendors are getting chinzy with free stuff for the fans, theres waaaaaay to many people there anymore and you can't even get face time with the drivers or teams anymore. I went expecting to see old favorites drifting Rx's Silvia's and Hachi's instead I get Dai in a GTO (WTF), Gush in a Scion TC (that was cool though), 8 Solstice's a Viper, 2 Mustangs (JR's the only one that should be on the circuit), and a Corvette (WTF). On top of it all none of my favorite drivers never made it to the the semi's. I'm so jaded it's not even funny.

Hell yeah that was me!!! Lol but yeah I think I saw your car in the lot too. I said to my friend "type-x wings are the sex".

On the topic of formula D though, I agree with Chaotic Warlord that It has gotten to be pretty and far to commercialized. I remeber just 2-3 years ago that anyone of us with talent could've gone and ran with them guys in an S13 and S14. Hell, for a while that was all the series was pretty much. I'd have to say too that alot of the drivers have gotten away from their roots over the years. It's too much about making money and not about pleasing the fans. Most of the Drift Alliance guys are cool especially JR and Foresburg but some of the big guys like Millen and Hubinette are just weak. And $32 a ticket was a rip off IMO.
