hey there NICO members. offer a little advice to my friend...

he has a 1990 240 hatch, 5spd. it has somewhere around 165K miles. the car has been through a lot. the clutch is going out (probably about 50/60 miles left in it), the radiator is shot, and it needs a new fuel pump. the chassis is pretty straight. 45% of the body panels have a crinkle in them, from very minor to slightly major (drivers side front fender took on a dumb broad in an suv.)

the current situation is this:

it is at the shop, and he has given up on it. he does not have the ~900 dollars to get it going again. he owes the shop 70 bucks for dropping the transmission to check out the clutch, etc. one of the mechanics offered him 100 bucks cash, and a clean bill.

the car is in Savannah, GA, about 3.5 hours away from me. about 4.25 hours away from ATL.

any thoughts/suggestions?

comments:

it's a pig-faced hatch with the original ka24e. no rear spoiler. headlights and most other accessories work great. not too many options on this car tho. red with grey interior.

I'll give 200 for it. Don't let him sell it to the mechanic. Why not buy it your self? :batman

alright guys...i'm getting the message. keep 'em coming and i'll talk my friend into arranging something.

also - the steering rack was replaced not too long ago. so its good.

krazy skwerel - you're offering 200 for the rest of the car even after the other guy offered 100 for the interior? so 200 for a stripped car w/no interior? let me know. my email is in my sig.

if you want to email the true owner of the car (he is not a member of this forum) email him.

if you have some extra cash go for it! just buy it for 100 bucks and have it sit at your place til the SR comes and the new fuel pump you will need for it anyways. now you have an SR powered car for dirt cheap..........i was thinkin about doing this but i like my 97 240 way to much

i cannot and will not be buying it myself. any other takers on this car? if you think it should be kept around, let me know. TTT

moderator: please move this to buy/sell/trade. i started an identical thread in that location too, but it is not getting hits like this one. can this be cut and pasted to b/s/t? thanks.
