hey i was just wondering if anyone here actualy tried installing their subs behind the panels in the back seat as shown in the Installs section of 240sx.org (cant access site right now.. and tried emailing the guy who wrote it up but it didnt go through)?

I was wondering how deep is it and what is the best 10" i could stick in there? I want to duplicate the performance of a 12"er so i figured the 10 square woofer might do the job but im not sure if it will clear the frame/back..

thanks for your help tom

the max depth for a sub would be 5.25"I have seen it done with the square kicker 10's, and it looked really clean :)

Hm the sqaure kickers come in two variations L5 and L7.. im guessin it was the L5 since it needs 5-7/8" which is still more than 5.2". Do you know if a washer, or something like that, was used during the installation?

Do the L5 hit alright? I am looking for something for reggae, rock, and random loud music. I do want to be heard so i can annoy people with my old fashion taste and my powerfull bass abilities :)

Personally I would go with the Audiobahns over the L5 or 7's. There's nothing wrong with a round sub, don't you think that if round really wasn't good, all of the major Subwoofer manufacturers would start making square subs? The Audiobahn 10 will actually be better, that specific sub requires a minimum of .25 ft3 to a max of .75 ft3, so it's a shallow sub, requires minimal airspace, stuff it with polyfill to make it act like its in a larger box. It will require a good bit of work with fiberglass to make it work. It will definitely be easier to do with the Audiobahn AW1000Q. Give me a yell if you have any q's on how to make it work.

Don't even touch a Solobaric! They have a history of being very easy to blow...the voice coils kill easy...go Audiobahn! Or if you really want some hit, get an Eclipse Aluminum...though I don't know how deep the speaker is...

The Eclipse Aluminum is a big and deep sub, I really don't think it will fit the depth, but if you're going to fiberglass the actual exterior panel, you might be able to get it to work. The Audiobahns seem to the best way to go, and they're awesome.
