i'm going to be in the market for an FX next year. it's what i want. i've owned 240's and miss nissans. going to be keeping my 88 Legend tho cuz she grew on me. but i've made up my mind as to what i'm going to finally buy that is on an actual payment plan seein as how all my cars have been import cash cars i fixed up.

i've decided on an '04 FX35 AWD ~~hopefully i can find it in Beryllium~~

i've already read through the entire FX35/FX45 section to see about what problems i have to look forward to. it's still the car i want. big enough to sleep in if things get rough, setup enough to enjoy some lighthearted backmountain roads, but still classy and sporty enough to take out on the weekends. the problems that i read about are easily within my ability to fix and i think the car would take nicely to improvements.

the one thing i'm disappointed in, is that the 2010 FX has a really really nice Nav area and front seats, as well as steering wheel... but the body of the '04 looks better IMO.
i want to know if anyone's considered swapping the new nav center console systems into an older model. and at the same time... the front seats and steering wheel. i can deal with the steerign wheel and nav, but if i can get the '10's seats into the '04 i'll be sold on dedicating my savings account to getting the '04.

before you say it... i'm getting the 04 due to monetary restraints, but also because i like the body of the 04. also, it's a year into the model's life so most of the problems were fixed by the second year, as well as the year '04 being a good resale year.

Welcome to NICO! Glad you joined us and I hope you stay awhile. I see you've looked around a bit and discovered our vault of info. Wish I could be of some help, but I don't know much about the FX. I just decided to stop by and say welcome to the community.

I'm new to the staff and I don't know if this forum gets a lot of traffic, but please let one of the us(members in blue) know if you'd like this thread to be moved to the main FX area where there's more traffic. It's close to an intro thread, but has a taste of specific questioning so we don't want you to be left hanging and not come back.

Once again, welcome and make yourself at home. :D

I have found that these types of swaps are never easy. The vehicle has gone through a major revision, so swapping out the dash isn't going to be a plug-n-play type swap. It is a major undertaking to add some options to a car of the same year. Just adding automatic climate control to a 2nd generation Maxima that didn't come with it takes an amazing amount of wiring revisions.

I'm not saying it can't be done - but I think you're talking about a tremendous amount of expensive work to get it there...

just read that whole thread.

that was a badass build thread. only thing that bugged me was how he got it to ride better with lowering, and i want it to ride better at stock height so i can still take it offroad.

but yeah, that build was really nice, and totally doable.

i was just really interested in the silver control knob that the 2010 has.

but i'm guessing you'd have to switch over all the components with the screen and dash.
