i personally dont think im a 10 in looks. i have no boobs and a big nose and a huge head.

but i think all over im a 10 because im fairly pretty, im ridiculously nice, fairly intelligent, i identify with the male species (cars, video games, and paintball) and i treat my man like a king.

I HAVE AN INTERESTING QUESTION I JUST THOUGHT OF:

would you rather have a 10 (ok, or a 9 or something since we've determined that 10 does not exist) in looks and a 6 overall (her intelligence, relatable-ness, ability to take care of you)

or a 10 overall and a 5-6 in looks.

I would take brains over beauty any day. One of the biggest turnoffs for me is a girl who is clueless. And even if she has brains and is reasonably attractive she still has to have the personality to pull it all together.

I don't think there really is a girl who has it all... nobody's perfect.

Alright, this has been bothering me for awhile.

Hanging out with friends they will often identify a hot chick as a 10.

The scale is 1-10.

What I'm not understanding is how can anyone ever be a perfect 10? Ten implies that they are the absolute best there is. How could anyone ever even identify a 10?

In my mind, if you rank on a scale of subjective looks from 1-10, everything and everyone is ranked AGAINST perfection.

In high school my friends and I had two scales: the "I'd hit it scale" and the "she's actually pretty cool" scale. Obviously, in a question of "would you hit it" we would defer to the former, but when making a decision on whether or not to date someone both scales had to be considered. I think our rule was that she had to have a combined score of like 15(ish) before we would consider dating her. Of course, there was a little wiggle room under extenuating circumstances, but any gross violations of protocol resulted in merciless ridicule.

Now, if you have a check list of qualities that establish perfection to you then you are adding objectivity to to the scoring. Therefore you can identify a perfect score. Without a feature set to go off of though any score you give can not be verified.

10 is thrown out without thinking about it. That's wrong to me. That just means that people are lowering their standards all the time to suit the situation.

This is something I've never understood. It's along the same line as people predicting the weather. There is no such thing as a 0% or 100% chance of anything. 0% and 100% are absolutes and there is no probability or chance involved in absolutes. You could argue that 100% chance of rain is when it's raining at the exact moment but how does chance play a part in that?
