I cranked up the heat on the way in to work today and out came the unmistakable sent of gasoline. Can I assume I should have this checked out by a pro?

Any one else experience this?

2001 Q 45 T with 80,000 miles.

Thanks.

Could be the fuel lines running between the fuel rails. Always repalced with OEM when the plenum comes off, like say KS replacement.

9 years is a long life for rubber hoses exposed to ethanol in E10.

An easy start is to tighten the clamps to the fuel lines. If that doesn't stanch the stench, (or you are fundamentally opposed to cheap, easy, short term fixes) you may want to replace the hoses. I simply tightened my clamps in the winter of 07. I have enjoyed fossil fuel free scent heat since then. Of course my hoses could fail the next time I drive the car and trigger a combustive event that would rival the blaze at Artie Bucco's Vesuvio restaurant. The resulting conflagration could cost me my car, my plastic Jesus (on the dashboard of my car), my glow in the dark spy decoder ring, my life and could potentially result in the end of mankind as we know it. Locusts, pestilence, dogs living with cats and all that. Of course, I might just never have to deal with it again.

Got the same issue myself. I got mine put up for the winter and everytime i start it up in the cold i get a faint fuel smell inside when the heats on but its strong outside. Fuel smell goes away when the car is almost fully warmed but still remains a bit on the outside. Replaced all of my fuel line just over a year ago. Not as noticeable when its warmer out. Also replaced 95% of the clamps in the entire engine seeing how those little wire ones are pieces of junk. Made sure all are tightened fully.
