as rated by readers of the Sun in the IK if I remember right, it's a very sound list, think I would've included Blues Brothers instead of Die another Day though....

most modern movies really lack in good chase scenes, though a few more recent have been good (the Transporter's opener comes to mind, it had the dumb but entertaining car hauler scene though...) Haven't seen the recent Italian Job but it's supposed to have a good one as well.

why isn't the new Gone in 60 Seconds on that list? The original was ok, but just too long to make it worthwhile. 40 minutes gets boring real quick

The Transporter has a pretty good car chase scene in it...but it didn't make the list...

I agree with you. That's a good list and I think Blues Brothers ranks up there too. I thought Bullit and French Connection were the tops.

A couple other ones worth mentioning

To Live and Die in LA (not a great flick, but awesome car chase)The Rock - Nic Cage in a Ferrari chasing Sean Connery in a Hummer. fun stuff, though the cable car blowing straight up was far fetched. good thread

Ronin and Bullitt are my faves.

What about any episode of the Dukes of Hazzard? :)

I gotta agree on the 2 Ronin chase scenes. And Smokey and the Bandit is a good movie too.AZ mentioned Dukes of Hazzard. What about CHiPs?!? Every chase ended in a 10 car pile up with at least one car getting airbourne and doing 360* barrell roll!!

Ive never seen Bullitt or the original 60 Secs. Time to sign up for NetFlix!!

does that mean I'm too pricey, won't haggle, or just talk afterwards?:D

remember the chase type scene from Like Father Like Son? (think that was it, Dudley Moore and Kirk Cameron in it)

pretty funny watching the Jag get flailed while they played Wildside by Motley Crue...

Yeah Thunderbolt is pretty good, I saw it on TV a couple months ago, I think F/X or TNT had it on. And that Skyline chase was pretty sweet, almost as sweet as Jackie kicking that guy off the garage balcony and he lands on a Lamborghini Countach.

While Ronin should always be the standard... I still like the bike chases in MI-2, and the 2nd Matrix.

Other cool chases/races that I like are the rental car race in Days of Thunder: Taurus vs. Lumina!

and Bad Boys 2 really was over the top with the very long chase with the car carrier dropping cars, mixed with insane amounts of gunplay and general mayhem/destruction. The sights and sounds of that one are unmatched, IMO
