alright so im almost done with my NA ka build in my s14. I have done all supporting upgrades but when it comes to pistons i have heard just a little bit about the kas having detonation problems with 9 compression and higher pistons. not just the normal risk but a lot higher risk....almost like its 50 50 that it will blow which is way too high of a risk for me. i really need that high compression though for a strong na build.

opinions, thoughts, concerns, personal exp., ect?

Ka's not much different than any other engine dude, its not going to dislike higher compression pistons anymore than any other engine. Its all about the tune.

The stock pistons have weak ring lands. So if you get some detonation at a higher HP numbers they will fail. Just upgrade pistons and tune it right and you will be fine.

look for guys running SOHC KA pistons, which will up your compression ratio almost to 11:1-12:1 (It's been a while since I've read up on this so I don't know the exact number)

There are quite a few though. You can see how they've been doing and get a better idea of what you should do here.
