While I know this is mainly a nissan/infiniti/Datsun website, But I know you're all mainly car enthusiasts, so i figured it appropriate to share a special evolution from Bahamas with you guys. The feature article is posted on a Bahamian magazine website called AutoTune. Be sure to check out this awesome Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 1.

There are a fewthings I like about the car, like the snazzy paint job. But there are also things I think are kinda tacky or unfinished making it less impressive overall. For example, the holey rear bumper looks silly, and the ziptie and hose clamp gauge mountings on the roll cage scream unfinished or cheap. I've also never quite understood why so many people put money into making the car faster and lower, yet completely ignore the brake system. Those look like stock calipers.

Gotta be honest:
I find it no easier to get excited about an Evo 1 than an Evo X. It's still nothing more than a Mitsubishi Special Cheapass Edition Econobox with added power. I wouldn't touch a Lancer with a ten foot pole and no amount of added power will change that. If I wanted a pile of s*** with a lot of power I'd buy a V8 Vega. At least that wouldn't make my eyes bleed and my wallet drip. And I wouldn't be required to wear white-framed doucheglasses while driving it.

Sorry, I just really don't like Evos at all. I don't care how old or rare. It's a @#$%ing econobox. DO NOT WANT. There's a HELL of a lot more to a good car than just power. And most of that comes from not cutting every production corner possible to sell cheapcheapcheap.

I'm done being negative now.

That much horsepower and he's rocking 2 piston calipers on the front? WOW...

Also, what's up with his air intake? Just a tube with some filter element wrapped over the top? That's a grenade waiting to happen.

I have to agree with what was said above about zip ties and hose clamps holding the gauges on the roll cage. How about getting some dash mounted gauge pods?

I was underwhelmed. I generally like Evos, and I really like the Evo III and IV, but this one just left me thinking "meh". It has the age factor going for it, but the build could have been much less rice. Hell, the article focused on nothing but rice adders and really skimped by the motor head bits.

You dont need anything other than an e-brake to hardpark. That's what this car is.

Dont even give a crap about the "motor head bits", it'd be nice to actually show the car being used for something other than cruising. What point is "motor head bits" if it's legs are not being stretched properly. Whether you got a stock turbo or something running several bar, if you're going to 7-11 you're still just getting coffee and some petrol, boring....

We don't have any motor sports parks or tracks in the Bahamas, so right now all vehicles with power are either hard parked or daily driven.

I assume by "hard parked" you mean handbrake turns?

Common sense dictates more power means more braking power required to stop it. Doesnt matter there isn't a racetrack on the island.

For a car that sits in car shows, presumably with someone wearing a flat brimmed cap and white sunglasses smoking a cig next to it, any rationale pertaining to its construction goes right out the window.

It seems a waste to do all that stuff to it and then do nothing with it except look at it. :tisk:

Most of the cars that *are* built *were* raced on the 1/4 mile drag strip we *had*
but has now been removed to build more roads to ease traffic. So we currently have no drag strip other than the one I believe to be in freeport. *which wasn't as good as the strip we had*

There is talk floating around of a *motorsports park* to be built by 2013, but it's near the end of july 2012, and Im not sure if theres even a spot decided where it is to be built.

We only lost the drag strip like a year or two ago.

Right, but many folks here don't condone it either.

Hard parking = trailer queen. It's sarcastic.

Cars built to LOOK, not to drive. They park. At shows. Hard.
