I have one of two fans out on my radiator as shown in the photo below. I checked with Advanced Auto who wants about $220 to replace the entire fan assembly which is both fans. This really causes an imbalance and the assembly to make a lot of nice vibrating.

Question #1: Is this a tough job to do on my own? Question#2: Am I right to assume that the fan assembly in all its plastic glory only has electrical contacts and screws to hold it on?

Replaced the whole fan assembly (both fans) on my wifes 98 for about $165 parts onlyso your price might not be too bad. You can choose to replace one fanat a time if you want (per Oreillyls parts)

It wasnt a hard job to do-everything was very visible to work on. Maybe1 1/2 hr tops.

Plugging in the new fans was most of the work

Any gotchas on the removal. Per my photo it looks like the fan assembly dissembles from the radiator. How does it fit in there on the bottom side? Are their bolts underneath as well?

remove 2 10mm screws on top, remove whatever wiring going to the fans, remove the upper rad hose (i believe), and then pull out the fan assy, it just slides into seats that are part of the radiator on the bottom, not bolts on the bottom

Anyone, I am hestitant to buy this at only $100. Should I be concerned or just stick to one with a normal price around $200?

I don't see a warranty listed. I'd check that out first. But then again for $100 and free shipping with a return policy it seems like a very good deal. I suppose it would cost you ~$40 to ship it back though. My opinion- if I was low on cash, I'd go for it. If I was flush, I'd buy the $200 one.
