ive searched... nothing really shows up since the move of servers...

anyway, so every morning before i head off to school i do the same thing. get the car, start it up, let it warm up for about 10 minutes, then drive off. by the time i reach the end of three blocks my gas gauge drops 1/8 of the tank. its pretty whack, i spend about $30 for a tank a WEEK. and i drive less than 150 miles in that one week.

ive changed plug, wires, cleaned tb and seafoamed. i have the o2 sensor, fuel filter, dis and cap to go. and im also throwing the egr and speed sensor codes, would that contribute to my HORRIBLE milage. any additional things that i should change ie. fuel pump, coolant temp sensor ? im just throwing things out... any suggestions would really be helpful. thanks guys

You have to have a fuel leak somewhere or it's the cluster/float on the fuel pump. Have you driven the car till the gas light comes on? If so, then your leaking fuel, or you have an injector sticking open.

yes, your egr is DEFINATLY constatuting to your bad gas mileage.

What about the MAF?

I once had a bad MAF caused me to get like 4 mpg with extreme loss of power and a trail of soot behind me.

Do you have these other 2 symtpoms as well?

Fred..

you need to check for the signal coming from the MAF, that will tell you the story on the maf.

also, smell for fuel and the coolant temp. sensor could also do it

10 minutes is a little long for warm up, that could be part of the problem, but not the whole story.

How would the speed sensor code contribute to bad mileage? I have that code too, so I'd like to know.

so last friday i tried to change my o2 sensor, but i didnt have the right tool and left the sensor UNPLUGGED. i drove it until today and finally realized it was unplugged LOL. i rented an o2 sensor tool to remove. hahahaha. good times. anyway, during the 3 days since i left it unplugged, it drove the same -_-. i wonder if this would help my gas milage. but its weird that when the shop ran the codes a month ago only speed sensor and egr popped, not o2.

oh yeah and since friday i got a full tank of gas. today my needle is at the half way mark... ive driven only about 70 miles... ill probably take the car to the shop this week to fix my EGR

I warm up it up for 2-3 minutes and then go. :p

maybe 'cause you don't have a zenki lip and its like causing drag so it uses more fuel to make it move.

Stop warming up your cars DAMMIT:

http://www.mileone.com/corp/in...s.htm

Well, some sources say this, haha. I know some of you guys swear by warming up the car, and I warm up my car for a good minute, haha.

Yea, unplugged o2 sensors will kill your gas mileage. This is why you need a safc and wideband sensor to monitor these things, haha.

Hope your car gets better dood. Gas is gettin expensive in our areas.

This could very well be caused by the EGR. It's worth a check of the MAF too though.

Kinda off topic, but I always meant to ask you if you knew where they found your old car in Pomona.

Ummm, maybe you can use a multimeter technique:

http://www.autospeed.com.au/cm....html

Since you already cleaned yours, I'm guessing that may help a little. I'm guessing if you test the voltage it should be between like .6 - .8 for stoic. I'm not totally sure tho, because I know there is a closed loop, which is idle and low rev I think, where it jumps up and down. Then when you slam it, it should start being more consistent and going into open loop mode.

Again, I'm not sure and could totally be wrong .

Hope it helps somewhat.

Also, I think if your MAF is bad, wouldn't your idle, etc also be like crap? I know when my MAF was bad, I didn't just get bad gas mileage, my car would idle like crazy and die.

When my MAF connector was not properly attached to the MAF sensor, my car would stumble and die at idle, and eat HORRIBLE gas (1/3 tank for like... 10 minutes of driving), unless I went WOT, then it woudl be ok, but at WOT... with boost... ogh it ate even more...
