Just Like the Title Say about to take a 1,600 Mile Trip.. Car is a 1993 240sx with a KA24DE,automatic..Car Runs Fine not Problem No Code,No Hesitation,no oil burning or anything like that.. Been Daily for about 7 years,two rebuilds,first rebuild was just a normal rebuild had 124000 miles,rebuild top to bottom everything new,second rebuild heater core line busted an overheat,to be on the save said rebuild from scratch had engine hot tank or whatever u call it,check everything was ok,rebuild the cylinder head..Install every thing new again,,but went a little over..Eagle Rods,CP Piston, think there 9.5 something long time ago,super tech valves,stage two crower cams..an that's about it.. now the million dollar question should i take this strip..or have any suggestion on what to take or prepare myself or things that usually go wrong..with this cars... I rebuild it myself so I pretty much know everything about it..but haven't really gone far.to actually see how it will hold up..

Any suggestion or Tips are welcome..

^ and don't forget to change your oil before you leave lol. Also change to a thicker one so it can last for the drive in hot weather.

I use 10w30,I'm going from south Texas to Arkansa,around 800 or so miles..Should be alright..just got all the basic,extra oil,break fluid,PS fluids,enough tool to pull the engine out,spare tired,jumper cables,jack the works..just wanted to know if anyone has taking a long trip with there 240sx..an see what they expiriance..

Why would a thicker oil make any difference in hot weather? The thermostat and the rest of the cooling system will control engine temperature no matter what grade oil one runs. A 5W-30 and 10W-30 oil will still have extremely similar viscosities at operating temperature, since they are both 30 grade oils at operating temperature.

So the time has come,about to leave in a couple of hours,the course has been mapped,SA,Austin,dallas,Texarkana,little rock,an two more hours to final destination..hope all goes well,will try to update as much as possible.an if all hell breaks loose,Nico forums is here..

So I have travels 526mile,averaging about 30mpg give or take 2 Dallas traffic suck,will update soon,as time allows!!

yes the traffic over there does suck. just another reason why i dont travel of there unless absolutely nessesary. glad to see its holding nicely though.

yeah its holding pretty good,one thing did happen,my temp gauge stopped working then works again,it happen when i was in waco,then when i got to dallas an was stuck in traffic bumper to bumper an going 5 to 10 mph, i was a little worried that i couldn't see my temp,so i got my laptop out and plugged in my consult cable,an temp was good,all worries gone,an continue driving.

930 Miles an finally home,it was a good trip, all that hard work paid off,one thing I did notice was on the curves an sharp turns,lot of body movement i Defenatly need some coils,an a little stiffaning of the body would do some good.

Should had posted sooner,but anyways 3000 mile later been have a little issues,only happens when i'm parked an sometimes when i take off but it levels off pretty quick,video below,hope i can get a light on this cause it's driving me crazy..things that happen when i got here first the number 1 injector went out,replaced it, then a day later fuel pump went out..an it has not been the same since..The shaking of the engine happens once in a while doesn't do it all the time..it does it more after i turn my A/C on an i'm parked,if i put the car in drive it goes away..thinking my fuel pump is still the problem,but i don't know cause it doesn't do it all the time.but anyways,thanks in advance..

I'm very curious about the shaking, I have the exact same thing, my injector went, and it got all new injectors and a fuel pump, but has shaken ever sense, though not really under load (which, I assume, is why it doesn't do it in drive, because the torque converter is eating the shake by putting a little load on. And it makes that same exhaust noise and shake -- but I can't tell, I have a standard)

Does your shake stop around 1600RPM? Mine does, and I think if the fuel pump had a hard time with idle it wouldn't drive fine, which takes a lot more gas. But maybe something improperly reset or connected, or leaking, when doing the pump?

Yeah I'm also thinking is the fuel pump,or there is a leak,somedays its fine like nothing it's wrong,other days i just turn the car on an it starts shaking an once it's on drive it goes away,if I stop at a stop sign, rpms will be on 700 an sound normal,but a soon as I stop an park it starts, or stays normal..but anyways might have to pull the fuel pump an check the lines am see was up,will post back when done..

You could also just check fuel pressure.

I was going to, then couldn't find a fuel injected type gauge, only carb.

I can tell you why it doesn't shake in drive, it's got a little bit of load when it's in drive. But even in park, I would expect it to not do it sometimes, to be the same problem as I have.

*edit* now I could be wrong, but today I realized that when I had an injector problem I was dumping gas in my exhaust, it hardly even ran for a while when I fixed it, my tailpipe was just about on fire. I'm thinking the EGR got fouled, and it's stuck open, when I don't THINK it should be at idle?

So, maybe egr problems.

FIXED:::
I pulled out the Fuel Pump,and everything was ok,Hooked up my consult to my computer and check everything,an everything looked good except my TPS,had mine at .50v like I always do an never had problems with it.so I dropped it to .44v and has been working great since,no problems at all even with my A/C on,so you could try that an it might fix it..
