Uh, no. Different engine code means different engine. And what exactly is the point?

yeah, HR and MR are two completly different engines........ MR18 and MR20 are the same family, and pretty much the same, i dont what displacement the HR's come in, but they should all be pretty similar in design........

The HR engine comes in 1.5 and 1.6. The 1.6 is the one that's in the Versa base.

One's slower than the other? Personally, I'm not sure if I could own a 1.6 Versa. The 1.8 satisfied me in power but any more of a loss in power and it would feel sluggish to me. I mean, the Versa is pretty heavy for being Nissan's cheapest car...

Somebody should put his flamesuit for his negative comment on a Versa.

Some 18/19 year old on here do not like different opinion than theirs. Be careful.

Back on topic: I had the chance to try out a Versa with the 1.6 and the car is horribly slow compared to my 1.8, and my 1.8 feels like I'm hauling 2 tons of brick.

The 1.6 is way too small of an engine for a 3000lbs car. I do not see how the 1.6 can achieve equal or better gas mileage than the regular 1.8's.

What is the benefit of having this engine by the way??? Why not a 2.0l+ engine instead?

I got 35.8 mpg going from san antonio to dallas going 65-75 mph. Around town I get about 32. I'm quite happy with my car and the catback exhaust helps me think im not going slow =). Plenty of power for me, though. Anymore and I'd probably be on my way to a hospital.

True. But I never stated I was satisfied with the 1.8 in a sense that it's "OMG FAST." I just meant it can get out of it's own way. I don't know how the 1.6 performs but I do know you can't just throw a tiny engine in any car. A Yaris or Accent do well with their engines because they weigh much less than a Versa.

Oh and if you do a lot of driving with more than just you in the car (other people or heavy loads)... you definitely need something bigger than a 1.6 in a 3,000 pound car to move it efficiently.
