First I want to say whats up to everyone, I just bought a nissan 1992 240sx hatch last week and I love it. This is my first time posting in this forum so bear with me if it's a little long, I have a few questions.I reciently just got into a serious car accident and have a big settlement comming my way, But i probably wont collect for a couple months. But I will be getting money for my totaled honda accord ($2,700) this week. I will be puting a redtop for my s13 in when my settlement money comes through, but for now what should i spend the money on so I can just put the motor in and be on my way? Im ordering the motor from Japan motor impor( I heard they are good to buy off of) They are selling me the motor, transmission, ecu, wire harness, and the turbo. what else do I need? I went Into the frequently asked questions forum and saw that there was a section that said ( S13 SR20DET INTO S13 240sx SWAP GUIDE) But when i clicked on it , the page said "comming soon" So please don't get all on my back for not searching. any info would be really helpfull Thanks

You'll need about $3,000 more, a lot of research, and more parts. Keep in mind that your motorset will not have everything you need to swap into the chassis to get it running. You will need:

1) intercooler (stock, or aftermarket) + pipings2) an air filter3) a sr radiator (or hoses that are long enough to fit the stock ka radiator)4) fluids (engine, transmission, power steering, coolant)

You should also get:

1) a new clutch - might as well since the engine's out.2) a new aftermarket SR radiator3) new fuel filter4) a walbro fuel pump5) new radiator hoses6) new spark plugs7) new thermostat8) new waterpump

If you shop around, you might be able to do it for around 2 grand or so more. Bruibear714 is right on everything listed.

If you check here: http://sr20det.nismo.org/partsr~1.htmIf you check here:http://www.nissanperformancema...240sr/If you check here:http://srownersclub.com/faq/

Those areas should give you some more information.

Good luck, and most of all, have fun with your project!Good luck, and keep us posted!

let us not forget the downpipe, some lentghs of wire to lengthen things appropriately like the O2 sensor,MAF ETC. solder and an iron if he doesnt have one.fan shroud for the SR and or electric fans. If you are going to undertake this project be sure to do it the right way and the rewards will be so much better in the end

after i took a look at the web site's you all suggested I'm not so sure I want to undertake this project. But the fact remains I still want a sr20 motor in my 240sx. Are there any shops in connecticut that have done this type of engine swap?

its a pretty big project.. if you have garage space and an extra car, you might want to start prepping the 240 (when/if you get/have it) by spraying the engine bay and underside of the car with engine brite's gunk and pressure washing it all. It will make for a much cleaner job. pull the motor out and sell it for a few. There's more swap money. Then start rounding up parts (downpipe, intercooler, fuel pump, blow off valve, timer, etc) as you search for a clean SR. I regret going into my project sr with just a few thousand dollars. now im working my *** off just to pay for things I overlooked before, like clutch, flywheel, timer, boost controller, etc. Its not a difficult swap though, there's just a lot of parts that you have to remember to get/hunt down.

I bought my SR redtop from "hitandruncrew" for 1350$ local pickup in sacramento, CA. Despite the criticizm from my friends, i still bought it and i have to say, he has the best prices and good motors. The only thing I didnt get was transmission bolts, power steering, and complete intercooler piping which didnt matter because I upgraded. Anyway, he does ship for a couple hundred bucks, but it is not a front clip. Either way, its a good deal and it's legitimate.
