Examples:
I race this mid 90s Mustang GT from a 60mph roll on, he pulls about 1.5 cars by 115mph. We line up at a light and I ask him what he's running, he claims 14.7 at LACR (2700ft). I say okay and ask him if he wants to run (i'm running high 15s), I be both get what seemed to be good runs and he pulls by 1/2 a car. Humm...
I race this newer Alero, the dude says he's got intake, exhaust, and aggressive cams, that's cool. I race him, we're dead even. Then after we run I ask what he's running at the track and he says he ran 15.2 last week. Humm.. I had just ran 16.0s that week at the track. I think someone was telling a .8 lie.
I meet up with this CRX who asks me if I know where people are racing tonight, I say ya follow me and ask him what his car runs, he says 13.8s. I say cool not bad. We get to the street races and he gets pulled on like **** by a civic that I know runs high 14s.
My friend and I see this dude looking at Mustang stuff at school. We ask him if he's got a stang, he says ya an 88. We ask if it's fast, he says he's putting 300hp to the wheels. We ask what he ran, he says 15.0 when it was stock (at LACR 2,700ft, stock 88 stang has 225hp). We ask if he wants to race and tell him to bring his car next week. My friend with a 1992 TA, which runs 15.4 at LACR, races him. He takes my friend by about a car. Wait a minute, didn’t he say 300 to the wheel? My friend's probably can't even break 200rwhp and it's a heavy *** convertible. What's up with the lies?!
What's that **** about? Why do people have to lie about their times? I feel like I’ve gotta say I'm running 14s just to compete with the lies. It's all gonna be verified when you race and you're gonna look like an idiot like many people have.
