For the U.S. viewers on this forum who might wonder what the H#LL 1.50 a liter means, if they come up here to holiday...it's this..$5.67 per gallon.

But we have HealthCare...eh!

For some reason, known only to the Car Dealerships who get to post the MPG's on the window, in Canada they are still in Standard. A system of measument Canadians havn't used since 1970.

So that means our mpgs are measured in Imperial Gallons which were 20% larger than U.S. and calculate to 4.5 ltrs per Imperial gallon.

So if you think $5,76 for a U.S. gallon in Canada is obsene, think of filling up at $6.75 a gallon.

Lets put it another way..if you gased up in Vancover at 1.50 per ltr, the Versa would suck up $75.00 worth.

Can't wait to see who wins the 10 millon dollar Auto X Prize for the car that gets 100 mpg in the race that starts next year in the U.S.

Any particular reason why you're teaching driving out of a Tacoma?

It's been bouncing around between about $1.35 and $1.45 since July here in the Vancouver area. It has been as high as $1.52. It's about time the rest of Canada caught up. Funny how it didn't make national news until it happened to Ontario. Where was the gnashing of teeth while Vancouver was suffering. The Carbon Tax only accounts for about 2 1/2 cents per litre.

Good crap. That's almost as much as it costs me to fill the 22 gallon Q with premium! No wonder cars like the Acura EL/CSX are popular up there.

I guess we've got it good then!

I'm going through much less gas in the V than I was with my former vehicle [van -- so duh] and the fact that my university-aged children are no longer driving

we are too, saving about $20/day compared to the chevy optra we used to have. Of course, he's driving mostly on the highway and with the optra it was all city driving and gas was around 1.0/L too.

Of course, we only have the 1 car, so I get to take good ole OC transpo

Just think . . . in 20 years you'll be able to take the LRT!

Of course, I live in the south end, so I think city council is making the right decision in running it south and east first!

Do you really think the Govt's in both the U.S. and Canada want people complaining about the high cost of gas on their way to the polling boths to vote?

With both Govt's screwed in tightly to the Oil Biz, I sure they can say the word in those cigar smoked back rooms and get the retail pump prices down until the elections are over.

After that you will see and hear all the same old talk again about why the gas prices have to go up...world demand refinery shortages, the middle east hates us..and bla bla.....then it will back to this...
