Since the influx of newly acquired CA18DET owners, who's been taking their beast to the track to run the 1320 or the 1/8mile? I mean tell your story as to why your time sucked, but keep it short or we will be playing the violin:nopity.

Let's start with me: 4 total runs in 2 years with two different sentras and two runs per vehicle; old/wrecked 1990 ferarri smokin' 4dr sentra= 1st run 14.6@98mph (lauched car too hard, no LSD, hybrid T2-T3, shady tuning on SDS and borrowed tires. Next run=13.9@103mph tires spinned 1st through 3rd, let some of the air out of the tires and smoked a WRX off the line. Also bootleg suspension.

Newest car= recreation of the 1st sentra only better yielded a [email protected] & 15psi of boost w/lsd, better tuning, bigger turbo, bigger intercooler, crappy tires, but smoked my friend's 400hp VW GTI with audi turbo engine and big, big upgrades like DTA standalone, 850cc injectors, etc, etc. He was running 20psi of boost. Still a fast car.........take nothing away from him.

2nd race was with my friend with a 12.01 second, 471whp ka powered 240 and beat him off the line. I ran a [email protected] and he ran a 14.8@117mph. He had drag radials; I had bootleg baldies, but goodies. He wants revenge and he has to redue my manifold, so I'm looking forward for sabbotage. Oh yeah, very cold track; no traction whatsoever. Plenty of blown-up cars to look at too. Fire away with your stories and excuses:D :uzi

hum, I find it a bit strange looking at your time. if you are running a t3/t4 turbo and the kind of setup that you have, You should be running low 13s, With my stock ca18det with stock turbo, i was running 14.7, and with a high flow t28 I am running mid 13s to high 13s on stock street CHEAP tires spining on 1st,2nd and a bit on thirdyour buddy with the 471hp ka should be running at least mid 12s not 14.7.

I know it is cold out there, but it shouldn't knock off over a sec on 1/4 unless if it is like here -30C.I am not trying to question your runs, but with a setup like yours, you should be in low 13s.

Thanks,

btw, track was closed when I installed mine and it hasn't been open yet. Hopefully the motor will be rebuilt when it reopens.

Quote »you should be in low 13s.
Actually 12s! Too much power, not enough traction= crappy times! This usually happens when friends race each other. Less power will normally do better. Never claimed to be a professional drag racer, but I do love going and being a spectacle. You say you're spinning 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear, but you ain't spinning them like I am. Mine don't spin that much because of the helical LSD. My problem is getting off the line. I burn over 2 seconds before I even go 10yards and video shows. I just don't launch the car. But all this will change. And my buddy with high powered KA had drag slicks like iposted in the 1st post and he did run a 12.01@124mph on a hotter day, but he couldn't catch up to me on this day and he even admits that once in 3rd gear, not too many 4cylinder cars are going to be able to keep and this is a proven fact. I'll get back to you guys on the 22nd because I will run high 11s or get kicked-off the track trying.

DeeQuote »your buddy with the 471hp ka should be running at least mid 12s not 14.7.
Like I stated before he ran 14.8@117mph. We were too busy looking at each other and both had horrible reaction times as well as 60ft times.

R/T..............1.19760'..............2.336330.............6.1271/8..............9.2121/8 MPH......81.801/4.............13.9091/4 MPH......102.23

That was low boost and a slipping clutch, I tried after I upgrade the turbo and clutch but I never practised starting enough, as you can guess it was bog down or wheelspin and the best I got was a 14.0@108mph :(

what sort of trap speeds are/were you running???

Yeah, Your traps arent that high. I figured you would be pulling more out of it top end. Im hoping for mid to high 12s when its all said and done, Maybe better. Im not sure how this car will luanch so I guess I will find out. I think I will pick up some slicks since Im shooting for 2500 pounds and 375 rwhp.

good god PacMan, thatll be pretty rediculous. we dont have a 1/4 mile track here, only 1/8. we have to do math and find what we would theoreticcaly run in the quarter. its pretty ghey. ive been once and didnt do too badly, i think it was a 14.4ish, this was with 1/4 tank of 93 and my trusty ol' falken azenis sport tires. i find that its better to rev it to about 3500 and slip the clutch (quickly of course) to build up boost almost as soon as the car starts moving. it doesnt spin the tires and it gets you moving pretty damn quick. that one night i went to the track was awesome because both the guys i know with evo VIIIs are terrible drivers and could only pull of a best time of about 14.5-6 each. boy did i give them $hit after that...hehe, still do actually. ill let you guys know when i go down to steele in birmingham, then ill have a real time to show everyone.

I like 1/8 mile tracks, i have never ran the full 1/4 mile. In my old car I was pulling low 8s and that was slow for my car since I just wasent used to driving it at the track, Just the street. Its about cutting a good light and 60 foot, If I cant hit a 1.6 on slicks im gonna let Diamondstar36 drive it. The bad thing is that Im not building it for drag but to run backroads and just be a fun car. The fastback Im gonna build will be that car....With a RB or FJ.

haha, victor is the guy offering me the evo 7 intercooler. i know him well, and i know to watch out for those cars. seriously, huntsville has more than its fair share of really fast cars. when i went to the drag strip there wasnt a single car (save for a very few people in riced cars, one guy in a rental car, and the guy with the nitrous powered lawnmower) that ran over a 9.4 in the 8th. most of them were in the low 8s, high 7s.

the one thing that caught me off guard the most was this bone stock looking f250 crew cab with the 7.3l powerstroke. guy had the whole family in the truck (him, his wife, his 2 kids and the grandma or grandpa-dark tinted rear windows), pulled up to the tree-didnt bother with a burnout-and waited for his opponent. guy in a 5.0 mustang with a huge cowled hood pulls up, does a burnout to warm his drag slicks, pulls up to the tree and purges his nitrous. light goes green and the truck fu.cking flies. huge cloud of black smoke from the diesel and the truck and its 5 passengers absolutely rape the shiznit out of this mustang. the truck was running high 7s all night, never lost once. it didnt have anything on it that would make it look fast, except from a large exhaust (same look as the factory one so its hard to notice) it looked like he drove it right off the showroom floor. it was absolutely the coolest thing ive ever seen.

the guy and his wife who were in the rental car raped the hell outta it all night and im guessing returned it in the morning. it was hilarious.

i go to watch my friend's h22 powered eg civic vx hatch. when i was with him last he was running near 9 flat, trying to get into the 8s. that was with an intake and exhaust. now its got a 57 trim t3/t04 turbo and a venom vcn2000 nitrous system. it owns. dont know if youve heard of him from victor (if you talk to him..), his name is eric.

:D You'd be amazed at how many people let me rag the holy shiznit out of their cars because they think I'm a good driver.

But yea, the key to the 1/4 is 60 fts. My DSM ran a 13.5 at a truely horrid 95mph. The key was a 1.8 60ft. Same thing with my 1/8th mile times. Most people who trap around 79mph run low 9s in the 1/8th. The DSM cranked off an 8.40 after a 1.71 60ft on 205/55 street tires. :ylsuper

Hey Tim, that big desiel truck that was raping people, probabally had propane injection. It's basically like Nitrous for desiels. It works pretty well.

Hi, I think I have seen a video clip of it on the 240 Canadian forum, there was some serious smoke coming out of it, I think because he was running way too rich on desiel, never the less that thing was insanely fast, I will try to find the link and post it.
