Hey Guys,

I have a friend that wants to go down to the track and race his 1972 Corvette against my 2009 G37S Coupe over the 1/4 mile straight track. He says his Corvette which has a 350 in it will beat the 2009 G37.

We are going to go to a legal track and I wanted to get some advice since I do not race.Don’t worry, I am going to practice and work up slowly.

Do I run the race using the normal automatic drive mode or will I get the best times using the drive sport mode? If it is the drive sport mode, is it best to shift just before red line or is it better to shift at around 5200 rpms where the maximum torque is?

Thanks,

Geoff

a stock 72 vette wiht the 350 ran the quarter in the 16's! I highly doubt it's still stock but if it were you'd eat his lunch, the Z34 runs a 13.5 I suspect the G is just a couple of thenths behind
