Got my total seal rings today, yippie, i think, soemone told me not to use these and other have told me they are the only rings to use on a turbo/nitro motor, comments??? anyone using them and have any comments on cylinder wall clearence or do i just use the OE piston/ring to wall clearence in the shop manual, or is there specail clearence to use with these rings and pistons??

also found a guy with ONE 1.0 mm GReddy head gasket, should i take it or get a 1.2mm and wait and hunt for it, what are the benifits/dissadvantages of both? better sealing, compression +/- other stuff??

you will increase compression with the 1mm, 1.2mm is stock thickness.

When I got my pistons made, the guy taking the order said it would not be wise to use total seal rings with this set up, but I forget his exact quote. It sound so convincing that I concurred.

I was warned agaist Total seal rings by Norris Designs, he used standard rings for his 540bhp CA.

You too was warned as well? Two different people that have made the tentative decision as to why total seal rings shoud not be used in the CA18DET! I would say this is a good point since these companies are in two different countries and possibly know nothing of each others existence, but came up with a valid point. I say follow suit or take your chances with the total seal rings.

i am going ahead with the total seal rings, my engine builder who is an accomplished engine builder and tuner, and was competing in the IDRC with a 4G63 7 second 84 lancer, says that it's all in the buld, and he uses total seal rings on his engine and reccomends nothing else for a turbo or nitrous engine. i guess we'll see, i have advised him of other CA18 tuners that have warned against it, but he want to know why?? and why not on the CA and not other engines?? has any of them goven good reasons?? he said he would like to find out, i would too.
